H4 Headlight upgrade

OMG this is so easy and it looks F'ing cool! I got my headlight shell at Advance, they had em' in stock for like 30 a piece or so. Then I just bought some normal H4 bulbs...aside from having to trim the headlight bucket a little bit the installation was no different that swapping out your old school lights.

Here's the really neat thing in my opinion...you will NOT have to do any type of wiring or fuse upgrade, it just plugs right in...I went ahead and rewired my headlight harness but that's because mine were falling apart...

Anyhoo, I will try and get some pics up (I really need a digital camera) or hopefully I can show some of ya'll at the show this weekend...

All my wires are 38 years old, wouldnt a brighter bulb draw more current, and over heat the wires? I have avoided upgrading for this reason, since I am not ready to rewire at this point. Congrats on your new upgrade!

Ditto - Good Post!

I did rewire the harness, but not completely....from where the headlight harness section (approx. one foot) plugs into the main harness, but to be honest I didn't think of creating more heat...but I'll bet you are correct!

One of my plugs that actually plugs into the headlight was pretty much shot, it was super easy to recreate that little section...and cheap too, all I used was some wire, blade connectors, and shrink tube, the only bad thing is now I must stay aware of which blade each connector slides onto when I change bulbs....

I am still working on getting some pics up here...errrrr

Overall this has been in my top 5 mods as it was relatively cheap and effective, before I barely got any light from the old sealed beam headlights, now...WOW

Brighter Headlights

Thank you.... I'm a newbie to this site. Spend most of my time on VMF or the Dallas boards.

I have a few other webpages that early mustang modifiers may find interesting.

Wow, that's a good looking car...only thing keeping it from being a great looking car is those funny fog light things in the middle of the grill. Can't you hide those under the bumper or something? I hope that's not the upgrade you're talking about...?

Grill Lights

You don't like my grill lights?
I'm hurt... I was trying to make it resemble the 05 grill.

Did you take a look at my webpage CrewChief? Anything else you disapprove of? Go ahead..I can take it....

I think she might be talking about smokinjoe's......I Love the 69-70 mustangs, no offence meant but those little blue lights in the grill dont make the car look good at all. I think they would look better behind the grill, or somewhere else....Like on a shelf in the garage. JK about that part but, I would find another place for them. Just my 2cents

I think yours look pretty good, JamesW
