Has anyone done a clutch on a GT?

Im just wondering if anyone has done an after market clutch swap. I have been considering doing one on IVY. If so, which one, hows the feel, is the take up a lot different. Did you ever have problems working the stock unit as opposed to the after market unit.

My biggest issue with the stocker is that the engagement is just weird to me. There is so much dead pedal w/ hardly any engagement feel until really close to the end and then it hits. I know the 04 and below have cable setups, and the 05+ use a full hydraulic setup. I have the hardest time getting the Throttle/Clutch engagement matched up right. I drove an 04 Cobra(Yes I know it takes some leg muscle to work a Cobra Clutch) over the weekend (I still own my LIME, wish I could afford the Cobra along with my LIME though) and I have also driven my buddies 2000 GT which had a bit of a HD clutch in it and it was nothing for me to get the matched perfect every time. Once I got back into IVY I almost put my left foot through the floorboard, that Cobra clutch takes some muscle.

unfortunatly any clutch you put in should feel that way ..it is simply a by product of the hydrualic throw outbearing.

changing the clutch will not change your pedal takeup hardly at all simply how hard the pedal is.

The dfx is prety widly known to be one of the most poblematic clutches with the 05 up if you want to shift at high rpm they have huge problems with hanging and not fully releasing

the spec if setup properly is very good the spec is what is in my 865 rwhp car

the bigest problem you have is most people do not do the clutch job correctly as far as the setup shimming and bleeding of the hyd tbearing..

there is a very specific way to do it to gaurentee a lack of any air in the system.

to be honest though the STOCK clutch can take 450 rwhp all day long.. i have a customer in the tens with one.

I HATE the clutch engagement on my 07. On my 05, it still sucked, but it seems even worse on the 07. I barely have to depress the clutch on the 07 to shift.

I have the exact opposite. What's causing my clutch pedal to get harder and harder to press in? It's starting to feel like my DF Clutch that I had in my 99GT from centerforce.

It's more of a daily driver with about 15 passes at SAR and 4-5 in Temple. That was done MONTHS ago.

Anyone know what could cause the clutch pedal to feel like a damn rock? It's not THAT bad now, but seems to be getting there. About 25k miles on the Odo.

The car had been whistling/slight chirpin noise at idle with the clutch disengaged. I knew it was a symptom of a bad throwout bearing. The dealer dismissed it staying he could not replicate the issue.

Took it into 2 dealerships, same issue. We therefore dismissed it.

Now that its getting harder and harder to press in and other website articles have said the same thing, T/O bearing prematurely worn.

Dean, any recommendations on what I can do? The car's still under warranty.

if its geting very hard you can take it to the dealer.

or just live with it till it fails and take it to the dealer.. they will waranty it

not much else you can do if you want it warrantied unless you find a sympathetic dealer.

The clutch on my 07 is just like the one on my 96. You press it in a little bit and shift. The 07 feels slightly easy to push but not that big of a deal.

Yours is a Spec stage 3 plus if I'm not mistaken Dean! Mine is just the plain ol' stage 3 (springless 6 puck) if not the DFX then what would be your recommendation other than a Spec?

yes the stage 3 SUCKS i would NOT recoment that to anyone its a race clutch

go with a stage 2 plus and you get stock pedal feel and drivebility with the ability to handle 500 rwhp all day

the stage 3 plus gives a bit more pedal effort b ut can take 800 horsepower

the ram clutch also works very well in the 05 mustang.

the bigest problem you have is you realy cant put in a very stiff pressure plate or the stock hyd t bearing will fail ..

so stick with a soft effort clutch.

Thats my goal. Stock pedal feel with the ability to handle 400rwhp.

If for some reason plans extend us out to 500rwhp, then money shouldnt be an issue to grab another clutch.
