That's why for big ticket items, I get the extended warranty which covers everything.
I have had to use some of the warranties on stuff already and it has paid off. I got a brand new computer monitor($299.00) and new Sony receiver($599.00) through my extended warranties. Good luck with the TV though. |

Check Ebay, I've seen some on there for around $100-150 before.

Check around for prices like the previous poster stated. You should be able to get a bulb for around 150-200$ and replacing it should be something you can do yourself.
I think the bulbs avg. life is 2K or 4k hours, i don't remember which. That should be the only thing to ever go wrong with a dlp (in general). avsforum.com has good info.

i recently went thorugh this with my buddy's Mitsubishi DLP. the "light" is encased in a unit that has ventilation screens and a self contained fan (yours may be different). The screens get clogged with dust and the light overheats. usually the new lights are updated with larger screen holes. call customer service and BITCH! it's always good to remove the light and vacuum the screens periodically.
