Has anybody tried out the headlight/taillight smoked films? Do they hold up?

I used VHT Nite Shades on my tail lamps and they turned out ok. I started by using a clay bar, then sanding them with 2000 grit paper. 2 coats of VHT and 2 coats of clear with a mild buffing and they look real good imo.

Yeah, the more coats, the darker and less visible it becomes. They recommend only 2 coats, any more and you are looking for a rear end collision.

I'll probably go with something like this eBay Motors: 99 00 Ford Mustang SMOKED Headlight Head Lamp PAIR SET (item 310012195691 end time Jan-09-08 15:22:37 PST) for the front...

those will look good. but, be aware - they are not tinted. the ad itself says

"Note: This headlight pair has a black headlight insert, like Cobra headlights, not chrome like the normal 99-00 models. The front lens itself is clear."

i would not recomend using a tinted lens for the saftey factor at night, however, they do look bad ass during the day.

i was wondering what that was... guess i'm going to have to see some in person first...

i want darker headlight/taillights but i don't want to use the covers... and i don't want euro/projector style lights... guess it's time for more research...

no, those you posted will be fine. the lens is clear. the difference is that on the inside, where it is all black - is usually chrome on a stock gt lens. (so it gives it a darker look, but does not affect the brightness. i say go for it.)

I don't WANT to spend that kind of money but I like keeping the stock stuff around... the only reason i don't want to paint them myself is that I don't want them to turn out "ok"... i'd rather spend the money on something professionally done... what's the deal with the 99 cobra light? I have the stock 03 "smoked" lights i just want something darker... the center brake light is a lot darker than the rest of my lights. don't know if that is normal or not... i'd kind of like all the lights to be that dark... i'll try to post a pic later...

Buy the VHT paint in e-bay, you can't find a store stocking them any more, it was banned. I searched for a month at all the Autozone's (the had them in stock) and now they are gone.
E-bay, total, with ship 17 bucks (I paid).
