HELP - acceleration problem

This is my first time on the site and I an hoping that you guys can help me. I have a '98 GT that is all stock. I cannot accelerate if it is hot outside and if I have been driving for a while. My commute is 40 miles one way, which takes about 1 hr time. Going to work in the morning I have no problems. However I have isses getting home. I am unable to accelerate hard and cannot punch it. I have to slowly increase my speed, but sometimes that does not work. After a while I must turn off the car and then start it again to continue on. Sometimes I must do this even on the highway. I have had a diagnostic check several times and was only told to change my O2 sensor and fuel filter. I noticed little difference after the sensor was replaced. However the car ran wonderful for 2 days after changing the filter, but then went back to the old ways. Also, the car usually acts up when I have less than a half of tank of gas. Sometimes I just stop and fill up to stop the problem.

Someone please help, there must be a better solution!!!

I would have to agree. If having over 1/2 tank stops the problem then I would look at the pump or the pickup. It sounds like it could be that the pump is heating up and not pumping the fuel that the car needs.

check fuel pump,...also could be your throttle body going out? I just had to replace mine,..and the problem i was having was,..when i went to accelerate i had to go slow,..otherwise my engine would bog down,..and after driving a while it felt like i had a loss of power, and then my engine would bog down again.

Could it possibly be crap in the tank that's accumulating on the filter? If not then my next guess is everyone else's, fuel pump, hehe.
