help for 69

I recently bought a 69 coupe. I use to own a 68 and a 97. I asked a local mustang restoring shop for a quote to rewire the car and add power steering. He quickly said he would not touch because 69s are difficult. Could someone lplease tell me why.

um, I don't see why he would say that.
If your going to rewire your car, I such, no I'm demanding you! lol to get the painless wiring wire harness, the sets are a good $300 but you won't regret it, you get upgraded fuse box, wires, everything. a lot better than the old wiring system, I could always help you out also, I've done some wiring on my '65.

seriously look into painless wiring kit though.

That car is a piece of cake. I rewired my 69 coupe. It took a few days because of the PO hack job. I am sure a mustang vendor sells a complete OE style harness. If not as Ryan suggested a Painless harness would be a great choice too.

Yes, they make kits, I've seen them, least from what I can remember, what sites all did you look on?

Yup, I got that same problem, but just get the money to buy a whole new harness and I'd be glad to help with the install.

Are you dead set on using the original style setup? Or would you be willing to convert to rack and pinion?

Most common issues of seen with the old car is the turn signal switch failure. Pretty much all the switches should be replaced if you don't know the hstory.I'd bet that would correct 90% if not 100% of all your issues.

my wiper switch is giving me problems, when I switch it on or off it shorts or something and cuts all my lights, radio, everything, except my engine off for a sec or 2.

If you have a typical bread and butter 302 car then I'd suggest going rack in pinion. If for some reason it's a big block car then I'd go original due to rarity of vehicle.

Keep the manual set-up and avoid vintage mustang PS nightmares. OR get the Total Control system and forget problems. It's big bucks but bad ass. I have redone all wires in my 65 and would be happy to lend a hand on your. I bought the Ford harness. It was a lot of cash but made the resto and electrical a breeze,
