Help me get my Tunes back
Installed a kenwood indash dvd/cd player in my car today. First, since im still a little kid, i just wanted to hook everything up and see that it worked so i plugged it all up and set things in just to see if it did, and it did. The catcher is the unit i purchased has an external brain which i just held close enough to the dash to plug it in because the harness from my original head unit (also Kenwood) would only reach out through the dash 6 inches or so. After i established that everything was in working condition, sound, dvds, cds, tuner, navigation... everything worked. So i set everything aside and used the harness extention provided with the unit, and ran the wires under the carpet out under my passenger seat, spliced in all the speakers; yes i matched colors, yes i used crimp/heatshrink connection, and wrapped it all with elecrtrical tape. (ive installed plenty of headunits so dont assume im an idiot) Now, newly installed, everything turns on perfect, but no sound will project through any speaker. I checked all speaker wires, all grounds, all connections... solid, no problem... The only two wires i did not use on the new harness was a blue one, designated for a power antena which i do not have, and a brown one that controls tHE mute option if was to have a built in telephone or somethin.... if i had not connected a set of speaker wires well enough, that speaker would not have worked, but the others still would.... all six speakers plus a subwoofer have zero sound.... ANY IDEAS???

no. I have the 460 speakers that pop in your door on the other side of the mirror, but thats it. Is it something in the factory harness or connections?

should also specify that i put those speakers in, the car did not come with them originally. If i just had the regular factory system do i still have an amp?? if so, where is it located?

well do you know if its the mach 460 or not? The tweeter in the doors will say mach 460 if you d and you can look for the amps in the rear deck behind the backseat in the trunk.

It is not the 460. I bought the door tweeters after the fact. factory system from a v6 or gts is what i have. I was under the impression that not all GT's come with mach460, and mine just happends to be one. There are no amps in the trunk. The only thing that looks like an amp is directly under the headunit. all speakers worked untill i rewired. I think i may have somehow blown the brain or something because there is not reason for zero sound. gonna call cartoys and ask them. Im sure they will tell me to send it to kenwood which is probably going to be a pain.

i looked last night and there was a factory rem wire from the factory harness that i did not wire in. I guess that there is some kind of amp that pushes the speakers, but anyways, it works now.
