HELP!! Ok guys, you were right last time...

    I'm in big trouble again:

    '99 v6 130k+ miles
Check engine light has been on for about 2 years, but it passes inspection (P0455, I think?). I've changed gas cap, O2 sensors, EGR valve, etc. Never figured out wtf.

NOW there's a cylinder misfiring, but INTERMITTENTLY, and the check engine light BLINKS when it's misfiring. (P0303, #3 misfire) I didn't see any sparks around the wires, so I tried to change the spark plug. I couldn't get the plug loose, so I put the wire back on and drove to work. When I got to work and opened the hood, there were sparks coming from the #3 wire. Taped up the wire and changed the plug, and the car was fine for a few days. NOW it's doing everything I mentioned above, AND I can smell gas...seems like only when I'm idling.

I was going to change the coil pack, but WTF with the gas smell?? It should be going through the cylinder and coming out the exhaust, right? Why am I smelling it in the car? I think I had the defroster on in the rain when I was smelling the gas.

    Whaddya think?

You need new plugs and wires to start with. Probably changing the fuel filter wouldnt hurt either.
I dooubt the coil pack is bad ecspecially if you saw the wire wrcing out.....

Gas smell is most likely due to cyl not firing.

sparks coming from the wire means someone put a test light to it and poked a hole in it, now its jumping spark...like don said, change plugs, wires and fuel filter then go from there

I can no longer see sparks/arcs. It's just INTERMITTENTLY acting/sounding like it's misfiring. The spark plug has already been changed. The gas should run through the cylinder and out the exhaust, no? So why am I smelling gas while im in the car...idling?

The wire needs to be changed, too. If it was arcing, at some point it will burn in two, internally, and there won't be any fire to that plug. Gas that goes in that cylinder will go out the exhaust, and you could smell it.

If you've changed all those fuel system items out except for the line itself - check the fuel lines and the reclamation system. That reclamation thing should look like a coffee can and have hoses headed to it ...

Somewhere you probably have a fuel line leak, where it is suckin' air - look for the ones that seem crunchy lookin' and you'll find your culprit.
