Help, weired noises when I stop somewhere...

So, every time I stop my car, and shut my door, it sounds like a bunch of sand fell on my motor, like a splash, but not water like. Today, I backed in and packed in the garage, shut my door, hear the normal sand splash sound, and it kept on doing it. Like boiling water was splashing on something. I lifted the hood, and cannot see anything, and nothing is draining anywhere under the car...

It does it every time I have been running the car for a while, and then shut the door once I get out...exept it kept going on today, and the noises didnt stop for about ten mins.

this is on a virgin 03 gt...

any ideas?

Mine does it too, but it's condensation from the A/C dripping on the headers. Only lasts a few seconds.

i doubt it...mine does that too when i use the a/c...water falls on the x-pipe(i think) and it makes the sound your talking about. it never does it however when the a/c isnt used...see if you can narrow that down first. also you dont smell coolant when you are driving or get outta the car do you?

I think its air making its way out of the car. PRESURE. When you shut your door, your pressuring in inside. That air has to go somewhere. I think. I might be wrong though. Oh but mine does it too.

Yeah, I've noticed this on mine mostly when I use the A/C, but even sometimes I don't. Glad to know now that I'm not the only one!

It is the A/C condensation, when it is really humid out, the more condensation is formed.
You know like when your glass of water is sweating alot, well so will your evaporator under your dash, it has a drain to outside and hits the exhaust. If it is raining out, then the humidity is really high, like 100%, so yeah it will do it alot more.

I have a convertible, so I don't use the a/c much and that sound always catches my attention when I leave my car and I remember what it is.

If you leave your car running with the a/c on you should see a small puddle under it after a little while. As long as it is clear, nothing to worry about. Drive without the ac and I bet you won't hear that water dripping/sizzle sound

Yes. It is definitively your A/C melting/dripping onto your exhaust.

My pick up does it, my Miater does it, every car I've ever had that runs A/c does it ... it is water sizzling on the hot exhaust.

No worries....

My 2000 Gt did this...There is a little spot where it leaks from. You can find it and put little hose on it to re route it somewhere else...just make sure that it's down. I did this and it never sizzled again. Sometimes it's quite loud and annoying. If I remember right I think that its on the left side by the firewall.
