Help, window stopped working

Driver's side window just up and quick working. No signs or symptoms beforehand, just completely stopped all of a sudden. The passenger side still works normally. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Fixed it, for now anyways. Someone suggested hitting the door panel in the lower middle section a few times to jar the motor. I thought it sounded like a fluke fix, but nothing else was working so what the heck. It worked, window is fully functional. Let's see how long it will last. Now I just have to get my power lock fixed.

It has more to do with heat ive noticed.

For some reason, every summer mine does the same thing. A few day's later it works just fine.

when the motor rolls up and down, the largest load is put on them when they stop at the top or bottom. This makes excessive carbon deposits on the comutator. Remove the motor and clean it some CRC electrical parts cleaner. Also once the motor is removed from the regulator and the com allowed to "Land" in a different spot by applying power to free-spin the motor, you should not have that problem again for a LONG time. If you don't at least remove the motor and rotate the gear, it will happen again soon. I've done this alot on many mustangs.

I had a simillar problem where it got stuck in the down position untill it cooled of. Then it would roll up. I contacted Racer99 and he got me a switch for a great price. I changed it out and it works great.

word. this same thing happens with the switch. Carbon on the contact points. sometimes you can save the switch by disasembling it and cleaning the contacts.

Yea, this is why banging on them when they get stuck works. It knocks the crap loose and the motor starts working again. Not the best way to fix it though, LOL. When I worked at the Dodge dealer I was always pulling off door panels and smacking the window motors with hammers (we never had any in stock so I had to do this to get the window up again). 99% of the time they would work fine after that and the customer would never bother to come back when we got the new unit in.
