Help with Rear ends

What is the difference between a 7.5 and a 8.8.

The 7.5 generally found on V-6 mustangs, 7.5 inch ring gear and the 8.8 found on GTs, Explorers, and some F-150s.
Thats the major difference, next is strength., The 8.8 being stronger and called Traction Lock, meaning it has clutches in the differential.

7.5 and 8.8 are the size of the ring gears. Bigger is generally stronger. The 7.5's also came in the older V8 FOX bodies.
