    HID problem

i ordered a dual beam HID kit for my 2001 Mustang. I hooked everything up and i have a bulb out indicator on my dash. The problem is that with a dual beam kit it only plugs into the factory harness on 1 side, leaving the passenger side factory harness unused. I temporarily fixed the probelm by plugging in a regular 9007 bulb into the unused factory harness, allowing everything to work properly. Im looking for a way to fix this. if anybody has any input it is apprieciated.thanks.

that doesn't make any sense for it to only plug in on one side of the harness... What kind of kit is this? I have single beam HID's which use regular Halogens for the high beams, and all plugs inline with the factory harness... no elimination of one side. Sounds like it's not connected right...

And we have a "bulb out" indicator in our cars?!?! I never knew!

im confused on how you can use regular halogens for the high beams but have hid lows?2 bulbs?can u explain please?(im not being saracastic, lol)

the single beam HIDs use the factory harness on both sides, the dual beam HIDs only use one factory harness (this is my second kit, 2 different brands).this kit is from DDM tuning.

when the high beam indicator comes on in the dash(without the high beams on), we figured it was a "bulb out" indicator.

Well my headlight housings (aftermarket) are setup for two different bulbs on each side. So my low beams are HID's since they're used most often, and my high beams are regular Halogens. The kit I bought was from stangmods.com and everything was plug and play. I still don't get why the dual beam would connect any differently but hopefully someone else with dual beams can chip in...

i had the exact same problem. I two of the wires in the relay harness were in the wrong slots. i had to pull the wires out and put them in the correct slot in the harness. if i remember right, it was a negative and a ground that were mixed up.

are you talking about the 3 wires that come on the harness with the hids that plugs into the factory harness?

i installed hids on my 03. i put dual beam hids in the headlights and i also put hids in my fog lights. if it is a true hid kit then it should have come with two small silver boxes(one for each headlight) these are your balists. the balists plug into your stock wiring but you should have gotten one for each side. my fog lights were different, i had to splice into the factory wiring, it didnt just plug right in.
