I would have to bet you have a TFI module that is acting up.

Moving to tech....

I've had that same problem, when it would get warm, the power would drop, then the engine would die. Once everything cooled, then it would start again, but the same.
Checked fuel and spark, everything was good.
Turned out to be a cracked distributor cap!!
Just a cheap thought

i was gonna say that or the coil... either that or the dist. control module inside the cap... (this is a universal sounding problem so i'm not positive that these cars have that module but i imagine it does)

Im not always right, but that is very common on the Ford TFI modules...especially the ones mounted on the distributors.

I've seen both cause his symptoms. I have always replaced both as a pair when failure has occured.

Pull the distributor to make sure the gear is not damaged. I went through the same thing when I put the engine back in my old mustang. The car would run for a while, get hot and shut off. It would take a while to turn on. I ended up replacing that module and coil but the main culprit was that little gear that sets in..
