How hard is it to switch to a carb

I have a 89 coupe with a 347 12.1 comp 610lift cam haveing problems tuneing the efi. I was just seeing if anyone has switched from efi to carb? Do I have to sump the tank & run its's on fuel system? What does it all detail in the job. Any info would be great.

i think the fuel system on my old 85 fox had a reg tank, mechanical fuel pump.

i dont think the transition is very hard to go to carb(carb and a lower intake is the most major change), i wouldnt want to make the reverse change tho.

i would tell u to call a shop, but honestly i dont know which shop around San antonio is the best at fiddling with carbs(kind of a losing art)

why are you wanting to go to a carb setup? I would stay efi with that 347 unless you don't care about the gas or its just a weekend warrior.
Like Cody said, you would need to change your intake manifold and fuel pump.

The car is a drag car only. Just having a bad time with this efi I ran efi for 10 years with a mild 306 all motor running 12.00's all day long it was very easy to tune when I went up to 347 with 12.1 compression & a 610 lift cam the car run's like $hit. Last nite it would only go 12.90's breaking up at 330 feet.

in a high hp set up, you'd probably be better off having the tank sumped, you're gonna have to get a pump, and fuel line, i would also run an msd distributor and 6a box and get rid of your whole wiring mess under the hood... then just carb and manifold... as far as the tank, there's also a "carb pick up" you can buy... not sure whats involved in that though.

I would get a fuel cell from summit, 5gal or so 1/2 fuel line, buy MY aromotive fuel pump reg and filter, also pick up MY msd dizy and carb 750 dblpump and wouldn't run a 6a, at a min run a 6al, purchase a vic jr intake.

I agree, for a drag car, a vic jr. intake is the way to go.

Canfield has a new 8.2 intake that flows well.
