I can do my core in under 2 hours... I have gotten good at doing it. My car when I purchased it had the core bypassed, original owner did not want to shell out 6 hours of labor and an additional 130 for the OEM core, so I got a hold of it, bought one from an after market store and have had to replace it once a year due to sorry ass design of the copper cores. Now, I finally broke down and bought an aluminum one and have not had a problem since. Guess it helps the fact that I also do this shit for a living.... working on cars that is for a career...

I just pull the dash back, I do not remove it, only kicker is, to do it right, you have to pull the dash and recover the freon too, but there is always a trick.
