I almost died today...

I got on Highway 90 to get on 151, which is in the real west side lol, (it was raining in that small area, only one cloud) and I go under 90 which turns into 151, i get to the yield sign and a 18 wheeler and a SUV are coming, but very far away, so I speed up to get in, going about 60, so im watching the big rig and suv when my car hits a big ass puddle, and my car goes one way, so i try to get it back in control, when my back tires start to spin. My car went right, but didnt get near the wall, then it went left, all the way across the 3 lanes. I got about 8 feet away from the left wall. I remember looking at the wall and saying, oh shit i just wrecked my car, but in the last second, i floored it, and my tires hooked and managed to jerk my car back to the right, but i almost ended up horizontal to the highway, the whole time im trying to keep my eyes on the walls and the big rig, i seriously thought it was over for sure for my car and maybe for me too. By then the car had slowed down, and just took enough time to look back to see a row of cars stopped behind me, so i stuck out my hand to try and say thank you for stopping and not killing me...
I wasnt speeding, or racing, but I do have 275 wide Nittos in the back, im guessing they have no grip in the water, and it wasn't even raining in that area, just the build up of the water from the area before it.
Im not trying to show off that i pulled it off and saved my car, I just wanna warn everyone with anything other than stock tires on any car you own, to be careful with this fucked up weather. I turned on my emergencies after that and got off into a gas station just to get off and walk around for a couple of minutes. Seeing that wall coming at me was crazy, Im glad someone was watching over me today...

So just a public service announcement, look out for puddles in low lying areas, even on highways, i dont think this is a problem in the areas that most of you are from, but Im not sure, just be careful out there.

P.S. Im still at school right now waiting for the rain to die down, screw that shit... One close encounter a day is good enough for me.

Thanks, I dont freak out easy, but that had my hands shaking for a good couple of minutes.

Tim did u have to get under a bridge? Thats the main reason why I didnt get a bike, have to keep track of the weather. well that, and crazy ass insurance prices.

^Amen...i had a story almost like that...but it happend coming home 3am so no traffic was around and i had no control of the car and i was going towards the wall and i thought that was gonna sum it up for me. glad you came out alright and you were able to get those tires to hook right back up on wet land

definitely glad you got out alright! makes me feel even better that i got rid of those old bald tires on my eclipse, finally!

today at work, i watched one shower turn the street into a HUGE puddle that started in middle of the inner lane and went halfway up our driveway..

i remember one time i was driving home from dallas (to denton) w/ a friend of mine in the car.. it just started pouring out of no where right as i hit a construction zone w/ no left shoulder and i was in the left lane.. a car hit a puddle right in front of me but one lane to the right, then i hit the puddle.. car started hydroplaning and the water fromt he other guy blinded me for a sec... that was some scary shit.. out of control AND BLIND like 18 inches from a concrete wall.. i literally had to pull over and pee before i did it in my pants that day... anywho.. good save.. glad you're ok.
