While driving to work this morning, I got behind a minivan driving under the speed limit in the left lane. There was nobody in the right lane next to him/her. So, I pulled up behind them and hugged the shoulder to let them know I was back there and needed them to pull into the proper lane and let me by. Instead, they tapped the brakes. I'm like "WTF? You're already doing under the speed limit and in the wrong lane." So, I just stay there. No flashing of the lights or anything. Not only do they not pull over, they proceed to slow down to 50 mph. OK, now I'm pissed! I end up passing them on the right and it took all I had to not pull back in front of them and slam on my brakes. :pissed:

BTW, a little while later, I came up on someone in the left lane again. This time they did pull over. But, once I went by them, they pulled back into the the left lane.

I dont' understand it. Do people not get the concept? or do they do it on purpose? I dont even bother getting them to move over anymore, i just pass them if i can, it just sucks when there's traffic in the right lane goin the speed limit and there's someone idiot in the left lane just goin for a stroll holding everyone back. I use the left lane only to pass and then i move back over..ugh :P

It's always great when there's one person in the left lane, none in the right, they move over for you when you're approching and then move back to the left lane after you've passed for no reason! What's wrong with the right lane? :jmg680:

yea...they need to do the same as they do up north...left lane for passing only....but the prob still is getting them to enforce it....the truckers are supossed to use the right lanes only as it stands now i hear....Len

Most left lane hogs are chicken shits who would do not want to deal with people trying to merge onto the freeway. I find it easier, quicker and less stressful for me to just drive around them than try to educate them on the proper way to use the roads.

Speaking of 1604...anyone know if they have any plans to add more lanes on the NE side of the loop? Like, south of Randolph to I10...I'm glad it is only a 7 mile stretch...

I use the left lane for passing only. Most of the time I'm going faster in the right lanes- because of a slow driver in the left lane. I used to get so pissed off cause people don't know how to use the left lane so to avoid any road rage or losing my temper I just stick to using the right lanes. Unless there's really a lot of traffic and I'm in a rush then I'll stick to the left lane.

Gotta love Houston drivers!

The left lane is for passing only as it is now. People seem to think it is the so called "Fast Lane" which is a misnomar. Technically your supposed to travel in the rt lane pull in to left to pass and move back over. but who the heck ever does that. I travel in the left lane alot but if someone pulls up on my arse I either move over or drop in to 4th and nail it. :blkvnm: lol.............

I had a"slower traffic keep right" sticker on my car (67) so anyone in front of me could see it in their rearview mirror. It didn't really work...which pissed me off more so I took it off....it also attracted cops like white on rice...wait thats another thread...

Ya! I thought about that, but didn't want to get more attention than I wanted. now, I just drive with my highbeams on during the day so the people sleep-driving in front of me stay awake.
