I need some help
Sup everyone, hope ya'll can help me out here. I own 2 mustangs; a 1986 convertible with a 3.8L V6 auto and a 2008 coupe with a 4.0L V6 standard. I wanna give my '08 a tune up cuz i think it needs one. With my '86, I did all the work; from a simple oil change to replacing the heads, all that I had no problem doing. With todays cars, especially my '08 mustang, now having computers, I'm almost affraid to give my '08 a simple oil change. I wanna give it a tune up myself, but is that a smart thing to do? Do I need any special tools to do it? Well hope ya'll can help me out here. I don't come on this site very often so if you wanna reach me, my e-mail address is stunna465914@yahoo.com or I can be reached on myspace (myspace.com/rivera210) Thanks.

Unless you have a lot of miles on your '08, it shouldn't need a tuneup. Regardless, the same ol' things that need maintenance are easy to do, and require no special tools, including:
- oil/filter changes - fuel filter changes - air filter - spark plugs I had to change my spark plugs after about 25K miles, as the driver-side ones were moderately wore out. If you are having running issues, then explain a little and maybe someone can help. As far as the onboard computers, I used to 'fear' them, too. But they are actually very useful for finding problems. Sure, they can 'get in the way' sometimes for some mods, but that's easy to get around. No reason to do you own work if you know what you are doing (and especially if you don't trust shops to do anything).
