I need some info on Routers.

Im clueless when it comes to routers. I have two computers and only one of them is hooked up to the internet. I need to get the other computer hooked up so both of us can be online at the same time.
I am currently using norton antivirus and internet security. What kind of firewall will a router give me? Also, i dont need a wireless router as i have just a normal 10/100 ethernet card.

I have two computers and one is all the way on the other side of the house. I use the wireless router also and your same antivirus. Go with linksys wireless system. It is wonderful and fast. You can get it at Best Buy and it is in a blue box. You will like it.

Considering that you said that you specifically dont NEED wireless....disregard the above statement Anyways, a standard linksys router for about $50 or so....they go on sale from time to time.. But all you should need is the router, and an 3 ethernet cords....

yeah, and they are pretty basic to install. they all have an install cd-rom that walks you through it.

yes. if you set it up right, you'll actually be able to have both computers share the same printer/scanner and a few other things. also you should be able to access certain files on the both computers if you set it up to do so.

As they all said, just to reinforce how important it is to get a good router, Linksys is a real good router. And KEEP THAT CD, because if it ever needs fixing that CD is what id gonna do the work for you!!!
