I should have made, my current makeover!!

I have a pretty muchly stock 95 GT Convertible. I bought it with VERY BAD paint, already! I am redoing just about everything! New bumpers, hood, wing, going to a black top, just a lot! My cousin is handling it all. He was the head painter @ a pretty small body shop. They did no advertising, but had customers from all over the US. It was all by word of mouth! I think 2 years ago he took a job @ a Vo-Tech school thing. He is over the auto body collision class. I am having his 2nd year kids to do the work! I've been to see it 7 times! It's all going pretty great! They have been busy with other stuff until last week. They have all of the body work done, now they are painting my stuff! Here are some before pics of mine:

    Here it is during:

Here's my tails & reflectors after they were tinted!

Here's my car with 1/2 of it will look when done:

Here's my new hood's underside, bad lighting though!

I know most is a repost, sorry!! This is so I can update you guys as I know stuff!

Wish they could, but Josh says they probably can't. He did say my project was the biggest he has had since he started! I just have all these special things I want done. I'll ask him again about what he can do.

Thanks! It is a sticker I bought from MW Speedshop. Just adds a different touch to it, I think.

This time I will have them put in on though. They can position it so how it was supposed to go on there! I have very bad vertigo, so I cannot even stand still. Much less place a sticker where it's supposed to go!

Oh yeah, about it being done where it's at. I dropped it off on 10/6/08. It's been there 108 days! It is @ a Vo-Tech school, so Josh teaches most of the day. I was in no hurry for it, so I told them to take their time. The longer she's away, the more $ I can save up to buy more with! I have another car, so I'm OK. I know it is parked up inside the shop so it's safe @ night. That's all I really care about! I might have said this, not sure though.

I just learned it is pushed back 1 week. Next week is orientation @ his school. A lot of high schools will be going through there. The 1 good thing is that they will see my car. My fault for buying that bad hood! If they did not have to totally rebuild it, I'd have it in my carport!! Oh well!

I just got home from seeing it! It's starting to look like a car now. Not just pieces! They have painted the front bumper, rear bumper, & the skirts! I was standing on a chair and holding the camera as high as I could to get the front bumper pics! I can barely stand on flat ground! I took like 15, these are the best 2! Josh said the paint was very fresh, so he did not want to move it. I got them to hold the rear bumper out in the sun.

Josh says my 281 wing, side mirrors, & the hood cowls will be painted tomorrow! It looks really good, I thought!

I started my car so I could hear it! I have not heard it for 125 days! It sounded like I thought it would.

I stopped by my upholstery shop & handed them $500 for my black top. It's looking good though!

    Made a video of it:

Going back to Laser Red. I would have like to changed colors, they could not do the full color change! I wanted my cousin, painter, to do it so I switched! It looks better in person, still looks cool though.

I cannot believe how much the paint has deteriorated! I really could not remember what it sounded like. Last time I tried to start it, the battery was dead. Thanks!!

Forgot about this! I had my S281 wing there. It had been @ my cousin's house. I put it where it would go. My stock wing has been off of it for quite a while. It was good to see kinda what it will look like. I've seen it on other member's cars. I really had no idea how it would look though!

Yeah, I will have quite of black in my overall idea. I want to keep this until it's finished! It will be in the glossy finish! That is why Josh thought this should look like that. No big deal though, that will look better! He has painted cars for about 10 years. He just can see stuff how it will end up looking like. I trust his vision.

    raymond8698, it does!

Got a new one of those, too! There is a member from Sn95Forums that painted over his 3rd brake light. I tried to have that done to mine. They couldn't both be done, so I would rather have the sticker.

    2/19:
I just heard that my mirrors are painted. I'm thinking the 281 Wing & Hood Cowls will be next. When I was there last, those 3 parts were prepped & ready. Also the taillights, I guess.

Josh did tell me he wants to have it in the booth on Wed, the 25th! I am thinking it shouldn't be that much longer. I was going to go tomorrow to it. Josh has a meeting as soon as school lets out. I'll go then on Monday. Thanks!!

Yeah, I've thought about that. I found that post on another forum, I have no idea what fender it's on. I'll try to search again for it. Do you know where it is? Forgot all about that. Thanks!!

Found it! I sent that to Josh! Hopefully I will come back with that part, in with all of my stock stuff I removed/replaced! Thanks again!!

I just got back from seeing it! It is all ready for the booth now. The body has been sanded & stuff. It is all straight!

Josh says it will be painted this week! When I go next Monday, it'll be painted in the real Laser Red.

They have doors, fenders, & hoods I think. All of them are done by the kids my cousin teaches. If I remember to, I'll get better pics of them. Some are kinda cool!

Josh has some samples of what he has done @ the BASF Atlanta place. He goes there to the main place. They teach him new techniques & about their new products. This year, I think it was over painting with an airbrush. Pretty cool stuff he did! All I can remember is 1. It's a 3D thing. You look at it 1 way, it's going in. You flip it over, coming out! Just cool stuff like that! I always knew he could work magic with a paint gun! He is just as good with an airbrush! He is awesome @ doing real flames!! I'll try to get pics next time I am there!!

He's one talented feller!!! That's why he has my car! See ya!!

I went to see it today! Going to look awesome, I think. Here they are:

It was still in the booth, so taking pics was kinda tight. I bet I banged into the wall maybe 15 times! I chose to fall up against it, than my car! May have hurt worse, but so worth it!! Here's the next couple of steps, I remembered to put into my phone.
They will buff it out & get it all glassy smooth.
They will then add in my black painted stuff.
They will @ the end put the bumpers on.

I am happy with it, now. I always was, but maybe more now. I forgot the time framing he told me! I always forget the important crap!!

Ehh, the wait has been no problem! Not as close to my car as I thought I was. I just want it done right! I'll know I'll get it by mid-May, that's OK for me. Thanks! I think they kids are doing a great job!! My cousin painted 1 stage of the Laser Red paint, just them on the rest!! For 18 yr old kids, not too shabby!! If they can do all my tiny requests, they can handle any project they'll face! I couldn't be happier!!

They are now color sanding it to get it all smooth & stuff. Doing it also to add my black parts.
281 Wing, sorry it needed the flash. The booth had lights, so it would not flash.

Front bumper. I couldn't get a chair in the booth. Not good, good as I could do.

    Now the car:

Looks like it's going backwards. I know this is just part of the process, though. I found out why it's taking so long today. Josh only has 1 kid to work in the morning & 1 in the afternoon. He says 3 of his morning kids have left his program. They got jobs @ body shops. I take it as that means Josh is teaching them the right stuff! I'm OK with them leaving for that reason!

They messed up the design I wanted painted on the hood. Messed up the sides, I can live with them though. For now, that is. I bought me a 96-98 Cobra hood from BOI like Sat or Sun. I will have that painted in just Laser Red this time.

I just placed the order & bought 2 17" Faleens. That's all I could afford right now. I'll get the other 2 on 5/27. Can't wait!

Just got back from seeing it. What it is the wizard says on the Wizard if Oz, 'Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!'? Well pay no attention to my hood!! It's not even sort of like how I drew up for them. That is why I delivered a brand new one today. Going to have this one painted in all Laser Red.

Sorry, I was in a hurry & the lighting was not the best it could be. The grill is a billet grill painted black with the Running Pony is Laser Red. Look better once it's clean & out in the sun!

I'm not very happy with that hood crap, either. Oh well, cost me $340, but it will be corrected.
