I want bigger tips!

Ok. Thanks to everyone in this thread, I finally got the MAC Flowpath cat-back system installed on my car at TheHotRodStoreOfTexas. I love it! I like the deep rumble. They seemed really quiet at first, but after a day of driving around they really got loud. I don't know if it is just my imagination but the car seems to have a little more pull. Imagination or not, I love it!

The original factory pipes on my 04 GT were 2.25" with 3" tips. The MAC cat-back I got had 2.5" pipes with 2.5" tips. You can tell the difference below. The picture on the left has the stock tips and the picture on the right has the MAC tips. I wish I got the one with the 3.5" tips, but I think it was gonna be $100 more. If you look closely, you'll notice that the new tip isn't centered under the bumper cutout. The driver's side is the same way. They are both slightly closer to the center of the car.

Does anyone know if I can just loosen the bolts where the two sections join and twist the pipe to center the tip under the bumper cutout? Or is this just a flaw in the MAC cat-back? Are the hangers adjustable? I didn't get to watch the guy install them and I don't have a lift or ramps.

I think I'm just gonna buy some 12" or 18" tips and have them welded on. How big are the stock tips on the MACH 1? What about the Cobra?

Now I need another birthday or something so I can justify buying an X-pipe. Heheheh....

PS. Tim Pryor: They cut the factory tailpipes right around where the pipes go over the rear axle, not immediately after the mufflers. Do you still want them? If not, Rachel said she could use them too.

Yea. I didn't realize it until the next day. I was just so excited to drive it. Anyway, I just got off the phone with Mac. They said I (or the shop) should be able to loosen the bolts that connect the two sections and twist the stainless steel section to line up the tips better.

mrshoss88lx: Do you still want the factory pipes? They look like the picture of the Mac catback above but the shop cut it somewhere around the top of that bend to clear the axle.
