Everything on the back of the alternator looks fine according to my wiring schematics. I would just make sure they all have a good connection and are not grounding themselves out on the alternator housing.

Now the ones on the solenoid all look fine except the 2 on the small terminals. They look backward according to the wiring schematics. I want 12second5.0 to verify that with his schematics, so dont change them. The red/light green wire should be going to your coil and the red/light blue wire should be going to your park/neutral/back-up light switch on the transmission.

What about the wire going to the capacitor? With it just twisted together like that for a connection it could be vibrating and causing an intermittent connection.

That wire that you hae crappily twisted together going to that capacitor is for an aftermarket coil. You need to fix that right because it is important. If it shorts out or comes undone you can kiss your coil and possibly your distributor goodbye. I have a Mallory Comp 9000 distributor and a Mallory coil on my 65 and that capacitor is required.

did you ever get your problem fixed

because my 71 was doing the same thing turned out to be the ignition switch under the steering column.

I can't really help with to much wiring because mine has been completely re-wired from the original owner for electronic ignition with control module and coil. and was a 302 auto converted to 351 four speed with power disc brakes. most of what I'm working with isn't covered by original diagrams so its kinda trial and error

good luck

mike
