    Information on fixing fuel leak

I just talked to a man who my father bought my 1965 mustang from in 1983 who lives in California, and he said to take her to our Ford dealership for fixing and service. Do you all agree that is the best advice for fixing a classic 1965 mustang? I appreciate any information you can give me. Please email me at [email protected].

    Thank you again,
    Amy

I would say that pretty much any reputable local shop should be able to fix your problem. The dealer is just gonna charge you twice as much for the repair........
I am just a lowlife overseas contractor who is all about the money.......

For sure...Besides most of the techs working at the dealer most likely are younger than your car....

Find a good local shop that knows classic stangs (ask around your local area or seek out other classic owners and get there input.)

Or if you (or your freinds/family) are at all mechanically inclined fix it your self. 65 stangs are pretty basic to work on....

what's the problem by the way?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

    Amy,
Texas Mustangs up in Waco will have almost any part you need. The dealerships here in the Dallas area refused to even do an inspection on my '66 Fastback once because it was over 10 years old. I threatened to call the state on them because by law, they are required to do inspections on any vehicle, Ford or otherwise.

I will ask some of my race friends down in College Station who is best to work on a vintage Mustang. I know it is not the dealer unless the dealer is extrordinary.

No, no, no. Never take a classic to the modern dealership(s) unless you have a specific friend who works there that you trust In Real Life....

You're better off with some (old man) mechanic in town than you are with a dealership.

Find other Mustang owners in town, preferably ones who have older cars, and see who they'd suggest - or if any of them do work on "the side."

yea, what is the problem? a fuel leak shouldnt be that hard of a thing to fix... most shops will be able to handle something like that. it might even be something you can handle yourself.
