Interesting night...

Well, it's 0335 and I just had a pretty cool conversation with this Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade who comes by my section to "check on us" and just to see how our boring-ass night is going. He's a nice guy and doesn't give us shit for reading a magazine or whatever.

Anywho, I'm on the computer looking at SVTperformance, and he comes up behind me and asks me what forum am I looking at.

I was like "crap!" because I felt like I just got "caught".

I told him it was a Mustang forum and he then kind of heckled me about it and then asked me what I drove. Then we started talking about cars, and turns out, he's pretty big into cars. Chevy's mostly, because that's what he was brought up on. Fine by me.

He kept talking about the new Shelby KR's and Cobra's and what not, and kept saying "my car" .. "those are nice cars, but for the price of one of those, you can get my car.."

I finally ask " What's your car? "

"A 2007 ZO6.."

I was like " The yellow one I always see out there?? "

"Yep."

That's when I relaxed and new things were gonna be ok. No problems with this guy ratting me out for being online or anything.

He said that he would have taken me for a spin in it if I wasn't enlisted... damn "fraternization" law..

Anyways, I told him about Biff's, but he says he's tired of hanging out with "old people" with 'Vettes.. lol

I also told him I take pictures, and I gave him the link to my SmugMug gallery for him to check out my work. Told him I'd love to shoot his car some time.

We sat here and BS'd for about 35 minutes. Was pretty cool!

..but yea, it's almost 0400. I'm bored here, and that was a pretty cool moment to pass the time with.

I made a comment about me taking pics for him, said that I wasn't sure if it would be "legal" or not. I don't think he caught it, though.. lol

Yeah, your right my bad. Still think its stupid that he wont give you a ride, JUST because he is a officer. If thats the case...then he shouldnt hang out with you at Biffs...because after all that could be considered the same thing.

fraternization? just say he took you to lunch for doing him a favor or he gave you a ride cause your car was acting up. trust me, the navy is the most relaxed when it comes to frat. or any rules for that matter.my chief (e-7),e-5, me (e-5), and 2 e-4's went to captains mast (drb) for hazing (punching) after our promotion ceremony and we all got let off the hook. trust me, the navy is the most leanient when it comes to rules.

because hes following the rules. even though it may not be enforced all the time, he doesnt want to be the one that may be made an example of it they do decide to enforce it. I dont hang out with my employee that i manage however i see other managers doing it. But when they need to get rid of someone guess whos going first?

i guess the frat. rule only furthers the dislike between reg enlisted and officers? i always hear how ppl think officers are dicks. i just hope when i go in with my degree ppl dont look at me like that lol

true.guess its a differnet view from mine. the whole base was basically stuck out in the bar area. a ships crew of about 200, so everyone was pretty close knit. our officers were a lil more laid back, but then again we didnt have much of a choice. when the carriers got in trouble everyone had to be in a midnight, so everyone drank close to base. not too many bars, so we all partied. as a matter of fact i have a pic taking a shot with my CO. (captain) but yeah your right, the top guys usually get the boot. just so fixated i guess, used to my experience in the USN. different in the states.

nah, not unless you come off that way. shit, i've had an officer pay for my girl for the night.wink wink! lol so you can see how laid back it is, but it also depends on the situation and duty station. most are ok, some are cool as shit, others are rich brats that don't give two shits about people, they would sell thier mothers to get ahead, lol
