If you go with a C4 , check out Redneck Performance on Ebay . You can get a rollerized C4 with convertor for around $1100.00 . Add another $300 for a JW bellhousing and $200 for a good shifter and you are set .
If you decide you want to go 5 spd , new TKO600's are $1975 pls you will need a bellhousing , flywheel and clutch to handle the power . Robert @ ANR Motorsports had a complete TKO for sale . Hell he even had a complete 418W ready to go as well ....... |

It is and it isn't . For a N/A car running mid 10's , the C4 is fine . If you want to step it up and run faster , you can still use a C4 but the glide is a better choice . A lot of guys like the TH400 as well and claim they are faster than the glides .

ok hey source i got a cam with the matching lifters an springs for the 351w its
CROWER solid roller camshaft for sbf. here are the specs. LIFT - w/1.60 rockers Intake - .621 Exh. - .635 DURATION @ .050" Intake - 252 Exh. - 260 Lobe Seperation 114 degrees Lobe Center 110 degree i also have Crower solid roller lifters, and the matching springs for this camshaft My questions is wat combo should go with this to make some good power an strong an sterdy engine?? Like the pistons? Heads? Intake? Carb? i want this engine to be solid an i dont want to be dissappointed in the end ! Im sure you can stur me in the right way combo for building my combo as i want to go 408 stroker! Is the cam that i have an lifters an springs big enough will they work just fine ?? Thanks bro just wondering!

That cam should work decent as long as you get a somewhat loose convertor (4500+rpms) and some gear in it (3.73-4.30 depending on weight of the car and tire size). I would suggest going with as much compression as you can afford to feed . If its going to be a track only car , go with around 12.0-1 . If you want it to be a street car , keep it under 10.5-1 .
As for heads , intake and carb . I have yet to see a larger stroked Windsor with AFR 205's run less than great . Intake wise , a used ported Vic Jr would work nicely along with a Mighty Demon or Holley HP 850-950 carb . When it comes to pistons , you get what you pay for . I would look at something forged like the Probes or SRPs at the very minimum . I have Mahles in my 410W with an Eagle forged crank and 6.250 H beam rods . I wouldn't get all jazzed out on the exhaust either . A set of MAC or BBK 1 3/4 long tubes and matching 3" mid pipe will work just fine and won't break the bank . Of course , if you run across some 1 7/8 Hooker Super Comps or Kooks for a decent price , snatch them up . Just make sure they are the same bolt pattern as the heads you choose . |

Your should be fine with a 4.30 and a 28" tall tire . The lighter the car is , the less power it will take to reach your goal . My car weighs 2950 with me and about 6 gallons of fuel , two batteries and a single Kirkey race seat . I run a 4500 rpm stall convertor and a 3.73 gear . Currently the car has only ran on a set of 275-60-15 MT drag radials but I plan on going to a 28" slick real soon .
