J mod 4R70W?
I keep hearing things about his modification you can do to your transmission that is supposed to help extend the life of the trans and make it shift better and what not. Since I have been having plenty of transmission trouble I was thinking this might be something to do as preventive maintenance for the next one. Anyone now anything about it? Is there a kit to buy or is it just a simple thing?
So let’s hear about this J mod. Any inputs? |

my friend has done it on 5 or 6 of them, and one of his friends is selling it out of his driveway... from what i hear it's just drilling a few holes/enlarginga few holes in the plate on the valve body or something... pm me if no one else replies, and i can find you a link or something. apparently it came out from one of the engeneers that actually developed that transmission, they shift harder w/ the j mod, which hurts comfort, so basicly , this mod alters the transmission to it's origional design, just not grandma friendly

You will never get this

Yea, instead of wearing the clutches out with smooth shifting, it lengthens the life by firm and stout shifts.

it is pretty easy to do and works. You can find the template on here with a bunch of good info. TCCoA Transmission Article - Index

yea that's what i'm saying, it wasn't smooth enough for grandma, so they modified it to shift smoother... so basicly you're "un-modifying" your transmission...

So I think I might try this out when I have the trans being worked on. Dont seem to hard. I might as well when I am doing the torque converter.
