Jury Duty
I got called for jury duty, yay! Now, I can get out of it easily (full time college student), however I heard they raised the daily pay, and I have no classes that day. Now, I could really use the money, so I was wondering if anyone knew how much they offer? Last I heard it was something like $6 (totally not worth it) but if they raised it like they were talking about then it might be worth doing...anyone know?

I got summoned for it, and the pay was like state min. wage (5.50) or something a day. So bleh to that.. FT student ftw.

I went yesterday, it was boring. They pay $6 a day that supposely covers parking and a small lunch
. I was there from 8-4. If you are a student in order to be exempt from Jury duty you must have school that day. |

It says all I have to do to be exempt is circle #4, "You are enrolled in and attend college" and then mail the card back in. It's the week before finals, I think I have better uses for my time....
I just remember seeing a news segment a while back...they said the pay for jurors was set in like, the '50's, and that Texas is the lowest paying state, and they were voting to raise it to something like $40.

I got called for jury duty once in two states - at the same time. Colorado and Texas. Colorado wanted me to prove exemption in person - too bad I was diagonally across the state! I had to have a relative report for me and tell them why I wasn't there.
