key copy
I need to make a copy of my 03 GT key for my wifey, but Home Depot or Lowes wont do it, nd walmart doesnt have a key to fit. Any other place I could go, or do I have to go to a dealer? What would a dealer charge me?

You have a PATS key.It has a chip in it to talk to the transceiver
in the column. If you have 2 keys you can program a 3rd or more. If you have only one key you will have to get another key cut, and reprogram the vehicle to the new setup. If you do this and find one of your old keys it wont work anymore untill you reprogram it. We wont cut keys unless you bring your dl and insurance card as proof of ownership. Key,cut and program you are looking at about 138.00

You can use a non pats key to open the doors
and trunk but it WILL NOT crank the car. Try it 4 or 5 times,it thinks you are trying to steal it and then your good keys wont work.

get one off of ebay for about 15 bucks, get it cut at walmart, and program it your self. you can even get one of those keys from the edge(i think cant remember which ford car has them) that intergrate the keyles entry onto the key for like 25 bucks.

You should be able to get a copy made like racer99 said at least for the doors and I do recommend. I have two pats keys and a nonpats key for the doors all from the previous owner. If all the commercial stores won't do it, then any good key shop/locksmith should be able to. My nonpats key is Axxess+ and has 24 stamped on the back, so I guess that's the key type. It looks like the older style ford keys without the plactic and all that. BUT as stated... if it's needed for driveability... might need the $100 key. Hope this helps.

Must have 2 to be able to program a 3rd or 4th. There are a multitude of PATS key and you MUST get the right key for your vehicle. They are not 1 key fits all.

That's the best answer right there. You need new keys cut and programmed to the car.

Well the new one/s would be cut to match the current key pattern, and then either reprogram the one you have plus one new one OR get two new ones programmed to the car and keep your current as a Nonpat key since it will no longer work with the new programming I believe, only for the doors.
