LITTLE INFO ON PATRIOT FREEDOM HEADS

JUST GOT A SET, 60CC CHAMBERS,185 CC RUNNERS,2.02 INTAKE VALVES 1.6 EXHAUST VALVES. SPRINGS GOOD TO .550. 5 ANGLE VALVE JOB

I HAVE TO SAY FOR THE PRICE, THEY CANT BE BEAT!
THESE HEADS ARE THE EXACT CAST AS THE AFR185....AND I MEAN EXACT, WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THET ARE NOT CNC PORTED. NOW THERE WERE A FEW THINGS THAT CAUSED A LITTLE CONCERN.
1 THE MACHINING ON THE HEADS ISNT PRECISION, I HAVE SEEN WORSE, SVO GT40 ALUM HEADS TO BE EXACT.
2 WHERE THE HARDENED SEAT IS , IT NEEDS A LITTLE MASSAGING WITH THE OL CARBIDE BIT
3 ON THE INTAKE SIDE WHERE THE BRONZE GUIDE IS COULD USE A LITTLE HELP...IT COULD STAND TO BE" BLENDED IN ".
4 OTHER THAN THAT THESE HEADS ARE ON PAR FOR WHAT YOU PAY.. A VERY NICE BUDGET HEAD AND COULD BE A SERIOUS CONTENDER WITH A LITTLE HELP......THATS IF YOU CONCIDER THE AFR185 SERIOUS!!!!!!

Not bashing,just passing along
info.
I understand some are a little thin in the
valve spring area.Be careful if you
get them machined for larger od springs
or deeper for taller ones.

One of the main horror stories I have heard about them is the spark plugs being blown out due to the threading in the heads. Any input on the quality in that area?

I think you are referring to the 4.6 2v heads . Brandon is talking about the SBF 185 casting . I have heard they are complete crap and the worst casting on the market . The pictures I seen on Hardcore 5.0 looked terrible but others have said stuff about the Pro Comp head and mine looked fine and flowed decent numbers . I am sure with some work , they will do fine for a budget build up .

Go to some of the Lightning boards and do a search on Patriot - you'll get plenty of info.

You are correct, that is the heads I referring to. I thought that was what BHAM purchased. As you were.
