    Lowering the stang

Does anybody know how much do you need to cut from the stock springs to lower the car about an inch an a half? is it even worth it or should i find some cheap lowering springs??

    Take one coil off.

It'll ride like stock, but be lower.

I had cut stock springs on my Bullitt at one point. One coil was removed and it sat... I wanna say almost 2" lower. Start with 1/2 coil to be safe.

It wont ride bad unless you cut a crap load off. Stock springs have a static spring constant so cutting a coil will do nothing to affect the already rough ride.

I have no idea I was thinking cutting about half a coil from the bottom, but know that you mention it

what body style car do you have? if you have a s197 get the vogtland springs. they are cheap, only 150 bucks and lower the car 1.3 inches all the way around. great stance.

I got my stokers cut, my buddy did it for me sometime ago (Mystic SVT). It's almost between Pro kit and Sportlines It rides good, and it looks good. Don't forget to get CC plates!

The front springs you cut at the bottom since the top is flat and thats where it sits up against the k-member. The a-arm has a pocket that the bottom of the spring sits on that kind of locks into place.

The rears you cut at the top on a solid axle car. You don't want to cut them from the bottom because they narrow out to sit on the lower trailing arm and not fall out...

    ...make sense?

Caster/camber plates; they are the black pieces that your strut bolts up to inside the engine bay. You can get away with keeping the stock ones and still being able to correctly set the caster/camber on the car as long as you don't lower the car too much. All that has to be done is to drill out the rivets that hold the plates into place during the assembly of the car at the factory...

Any reputable alignment shop should be able to do this for you
