Yes you need them for the front O2's to reach.

You will need them, but you can add the length your self if need to to save that cash on buying a set. Just do the wires one by one and insulate the crap out of them. Cut the wire, add your needed length, splice and solder them, tape them, add wire loom, and tape again.

+1. I did that for my back ones. On '05+, the front sensors reached fine, but the back ones I had to splice. Much cheaper than paying mucho $$$ for extenders.

I'd strongly recommend soldering any spliced wires; you'll never have problems with them that way. If you use crimped-on connections only, you could develop intermittent problems if a connection works loose.

On a V-6 not too bad, but still a PITA. Raise the engine or drop the k-member to help.

If you don't have any experience or never have done one before, I'd make it a weekend project using a small supply of tools, jack stands, and a friend or 2.

V-6 is much easier then the V-8, but a k-member gives you tons of room for long tubes.

Do a google on it, there are tons of write ups and how too's as well, but more for a V-8 since it is more common.

You do not have to raise the engine at all. Get the car as far up in the air as possible and slide the longtubes in from underneath. You will probally need another healper for this. Don't forget the new exhaust manifold gasket, exhaust leaks =

I dunno, I saw Greg's (mustangmelish) and on the driver side there is less then a 1/4" of clearance between the primary and k-member. Looked awfully tight to me on his set up. But then again, I do not own a V-6..
