Mac catback and Roush Shifter

Installed a Mac catback exhaust(p/nTK9624) on my o4 GT yesterday.Install took a couple of hours, everything fit great, mufflers tucked up nice and tight inside the frame and those stainless steel tips lined up perfectly in the cutouts in the rear bumper, nice clean install. When we started it,I liked what I heard immediatley, nice deep rumble, with the Bassani o/r X I have I think it is a little deeper than the Flows I had on my car.Nice and quiet while cruising around but when you get on it,power! I was going back and forth FM or Mac,I picked the Mac because of what I got for the $$ I spent, plus I wanted something different than the Flows, and the Mac was the least expensive of all the catbacks I looked at.We also installed a Roush shifter(p/n69015,Roush 3650 base)I bought from American muscle.com.It was just the base,no handle but I had a Steeda tri-ax handle already. We popped off the old shifter and screwed down the new one.Thats when we discovered it was a short throw. It wasn't described as a short throw when I ordered it,I thought it was a factory replacement, something a little smoother. We put it together, had to enlarge the holes in the handle and run to Auto Zone for a couple of bolts.I was absolutely amazed at how short the throws are,I've never driven a vehicle that had a short throw so the click click shifts were smooth and very short.I let my friend Chris(black stang 02) drive my car,he came back and told me the throws were shorter than his Steeda tri -ax shifter,he's probably ordered one by now.The best part is the shifter was only $95.00 and they shipped it to me for nothing.Just wanted to share the goodies I put on my ride yesterday, next I'm going to drop it a couple of inches,it'll look awesome.

Nice Vince, the Mac Cat-back sound so good. and the shifter is short. I'll be ordering me one of those Roush shifters here pritty soon. Now all you need for your ride is some Eibach Sportline Springs. and maybe some NITROUS!!!!! hahaha J/K.

Wink

Sounds like u like the shifter? I've got the complete Roush classic shifter kit with the rally style shifter on order, so if I'm lucky I'll have it next weekend. I'm hoping I like the positioning of the handle. I'll try to post pics up of the install, or at least the finished prouct.

your gonna like the shifter. I dont know about the handle because Vince (VMT) used the steeda handle and it looks really clean. I want one of those handles my self but they want way too much for one. cant wait to see some pics of the shifter handle.

so did you notice a performance difference between the Flows and the Mac? I've been toying with swapping mine out with Mac.

I noticed a difference in the way the car sounded, even though the Flows and Mac are both chambered mufflers, the Mac is what they call a flow path design. We looked in the muffler before we installed it and it looked nothing like the Flow.I noticed a difference in the way my car breathed,it seemed to have more power, not labor as hard when your in 5th and you step on the gas to really accelerate. After we were done w/ the install and I left Chris's house,I got on 410 to head home.I shifted into third and let the engine wind to 4500rpms before I shifted up to 4th and 5th.Excellent power,no hesitation and the sound, deep, raspy,it filled the whole car w/a nice, loud roar..There is a distinct difference in the way the Mac and Flows sound,to me the Mac is a little deeper @ idle,it still pops or cackles, but not nearly as bad as the Flows I just removed.I like the sound.I had heard alot about Mac,good things,so I decided to try them out,I'm not one bit dissapointed, plus the Mac was the least expensive of all the catbacks I looked at and I looked at catbacks for a month before deciding to go w/ the Mac.I paid $283.00 plus $44.00 for shipping @ Speed concepts.Money well spent.Hope this helped in your decision.

haha, quoted for truth! I meant as far as possibly a slight increase in throttle response, upper RPM range, that kinda thing. Not "It wouldnt turn the tires over but now it will" kind of performance
