    Is it possible to swap out the current head unit with a better one?
    I got quoted $1000 to get a head-unit, subwoofer, and amplifier installed in my '01 GT!

    That's a helluva lot of money; I am about to just swap out the head-unit. Is it easy? All's I'll need is a harness correct?

    One thing I noticed. That website doesn't give the ohms for the stock speakers.

    Also, this info below just doesn't have enough details to be useful IMO.

    Mach 460:
    Ford Hi/Mid-Pass Amp - 2x60w = 120w Max. 2x30w = 60w Nom.

    So that's only 15w per tweeter? At 4 ohms? So is are the speakers 8ohm speakers run parallel per channel to get the 4 ohm load or what?

    Ford Mid/Low-Pass Amp - 2x85w = 170w Max. 2x43.5w = 85w Nom.

    So 2x85 watts per amp? But if each speaker has an amp why are the amps 2 channel amps?

    230w / 13v = 17.7 amps Nom. 4 Ohms at 2% THD
    460w / 13v = 35.4 amps Max. 4 Ohms at 2% THD

    The info just isn't enough to go on. Anyone have any more specific info on this system? Or know of a site with better info?

    I had all of that info somewhere ill try to find it.


    To me, all of that is not important. The deal breaker for me, besides the awful sound. was the THD at rated power(2%). Thats terrible.

    Oh yea, I agree on that. I want change some of the stuff in the car. I'm used to putting PA's together and matching equipment, so I like to look at specs. The THD is horrible but the system doesn't sound super horrible. I'm thinking of upgrading the speakers just to see what kind opf difference it'll make. I'd like to rip it all out and start over but with the money we're spending on the house I can't justify the cost of a total system replacement right now.
