i im sure its a no brainer the map sensor has to read the vacume. so with your set up im almost positive you need. "dont quote me" someone else will chim in im sure
Is your car a speed density car or MAF car? If it is a speed density car you will need a MAP sensor and hooked up and it will run like shit with that cam without a tune. If you have MAF, the part that is called a MAP on a speed density car is called a barometric pressure sensor, it is the same part, just does not have a vacuum hose hooked to it, the port is left open, but it does need to be plugged into the computer harness. It tells the computer what the air density is, a MAP does the same thing right before the car starts, then registers manifold vacuum. If you leave either a MAP or a Baro sensor disconnected, the car will run very rich.
The current combo is an '85 coupe with 302 bored and stroked to 364, Ported Twisted Wedge heads and a BXR intake, A9M ECM with a Moates chip, Doug Nash 5 spd, 4.56 gears, Hoosier 275/60/15 drag radials.
Daily driver '89 GT 302 stock block, crank, rods and pistons, ported GT-40P heads with stock valves, Ported Explorer intake, B302 cam, Z spec T5, 3.73 gears, Moates chip and no traction. Made 325 whp and 325 wtq.
