Tough decision. The '99 up GT, showroom stock, will beat a '94 GT with "small" bolt-ons, out of the box. However, the pushrod engine in the '94 is a lot cheaper to modify for larger power gains. For example, you can get heads/cam/intake used. Also, you can do your own motor work easily on the pushrod engine to save some cash, whereas the modular is a challenge for most people. If you pop a head gasket on the '94, you can change it out (i.e. bolt on better heads) yourself, on a Sunday. Hope this helps.

Gotta agree with Matt on this one....Go with the older GT and pump the money you save back into the car....Either way it'll be a nice upgrade bro! Looking forward to seeing what you get at a H-town get together real soon!

yeah, leaning torwards the 94, but really need to a daily driver too. most 94-95's are gona have 100k+ miles and will need a rebuild. with the tools, that's a week end job. where as i can get a 01-02 gt and not have to worry about engine problems. so i got plenty of thinkin to do.

Shoot...100k on a 5.0 is not so bad...If you talk to some guys on Corral.net, they will tell ya that's about the time to go H/C/I....5.0 is a stout motor, good for a lot of miles before a rebuild...very reliable if you ask me....my .02 :jeff:

I would get a lemon busters, or another auto inspection service, to come out and look it over before buying. They can do a leak down test, compression...etc... Just so you can be sure the motor is stout. Plus, if they find anything wrong with it, you can use that as leverage to get the price dropped some, that's what I did....Good luck!! 94 GT's are starting to get kinda rare, I'm happy with mine! :jeff:

If you could find an affordable 01-04 gt i'd go with that, the 94-98 gt's were rated at 215 hp and the 01-04 were rated stock at 260, you'd pay the difference in price in the bolt-ons alone to make up the power difference, so really depends on what body style you prefer, i personally like the 01-04's with the hood scoop ( even though it's non -functional ) , still looks alot more aggressive than the 94-98's. or you could seel everything you own next year and get a shelby gt500. :jeff:
