I get off at about 3:30 tomorrow, 9pm tonight. Im gonna change out the fuel filter, had put on new headlight bulbs last Friday too, I washed my car on Wednesday and one went out. Got a great deal on some xenon bulbs, $10 for the pair. The only downside is that they are blue when they are cold, once they heat up they are white.

Your incorrect there. I had my dealership void my warranty due to my CAI when my Alternator went out on my 2000 GT. So it all depends on the dealership and service advisor.

That's wild they wouldn't warranty your alternator because of a CAI. I could see them not warrantying something engine related because of a CAI...but not an alternator.

All in all...you're right though, it depends upon the dealer. I took my 05 in a couple of years ago with full exhaust, CAI, and Tune...and they commented on how good it sounded and how much of a better response the car had. I'm sure they are one of the few who would allow it.

You got hosed. They (the dealer) has to prove that the mod caused the failure to void your warranty. Hows does a CAI cause an ALT to fail.

I know this as I was told this by my advisor at Jordan when my trans dumped the 1st time. I asked if I should swap the shifter out before I brought it in. Was told no problem as the shifter is an external part and does not change anything internally with the trans, and it was up to them (dealer) to prove that the mod (whatever it is) somehow caused the failure in order to cause any warranty issues.

My Trans has been rebuilt 2x and car has always gone in with all mods installed.
Hell I even got the FORD rep to extend my warranty to 5/75 for FREE as it took the dealership 14 days and 3 tries to rebuild it the 1st time and I was there daily cking on it. So as a courtesy to me for my "troubles" I got a free 5/75 warranty from FORD.

Even the rep told me my mods were no problem as far as warranty coverage

well i spent extra money on the extended warranty, and it was also the reason why i bought a new car instead of used. Im not going to take the chance of some dealership telling me it was the tunes fault and void it. SO i will tune it once its out of warranty if i still have it by then. it all depends on the dealership and i have seen it happened.

Sorry but you got suckered its 100 percent illegal by law to do that

even if they were to void any part of the waranty they by law can only voide the waranty on parts effected by the modification

IE;; they theoreticly could say a tune could effect the ecu or possibly the emissions system etc.

But a alternator is in no way affected by that modification so either 1 your giving us a urban legend or 2 you got flat out suckered by the service advisor you talked to..

Ray, I have 3.73 and love them. I wouldnt go any higher.

I would go with a JLT CAI and a SCT tune, and then a bassani x pipe.

At least thats what I did

Send a message via AIM to Mustangfreak
Why not get a tune now? You can switch back to stock tune if you have to go to the dealer.

I have about 8k miles on the car so i have along way to go til ill get a tune and im not gonna take that chance.

OK again your friend got lied to or is telling you a urban legend.

you can NOTtell the car has been tuned once its reflashed to stock

the ONLY thing they can tell is the car has been reflashed

guess what new tunes come out FROM FORD regularly and its comon to reflash the ecu with later revisions so that reflash could have been performed by another ford dealer.

AGAIN LET ME SAY THIS FOR EVERYONE
by federal law as follows

A Businessperson's Guide to Federal Warranty Law

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

look it up and read it and know your rights

It is illegal to void any part of a vehicals warrrantie from a modification that does not effect that part simple as that ITS FEDERAL law

If they do then fight it simple as that it is not legal and you are both wrong that they can do it.

i have already expressed that im not taking that chance. 25hp or what ever it is with a tune is not worth losing 28k miles of warranty. i dont care im just not taking the chance and i dont feel it is worth it. i do want to thank everyones input but drop the tune talk. thanks

I have to take mine in for the door handle. It has a tune as well but there is no reason for them to access the PCM, ECM, ECU or whatever for a door handle.

Let me know what they said and where you went cause I have the diablo tune/tuner.

I can put it back to normal but dont wanna!

When I dropped mine off for the rattle this morning I asked about the tune. They asked me who did it and I told them its an SCT tune by SCT in Orlando and it was done at the PRI show.

They told me if its not a ford update it does void the warranty. I asked about the silly laws that psiperformance is talking about and he said any modification to the stock performance of the enignie is considered being capable of causing damage therefore voiding the warranty. He said the engine was designed and tested to handle what it was sold with not what its potential could be. I asked him about my alternator and he said he didnt think that should have been an issue but its at the discretion of the service advisor. he also said that people have challenged the decision and quoted laws but then Ford gets involved and its all down hill from there.

PSI, find me a lawyer that will fight FORD for such a petty issue

I am with you Ray, dont tune it until your warranty runs out. I did but shit I want to sell my car so bad so the warranty doesnt matter to me!

If you talking to me I moved to Cocoa Beach FL, so I went to a locao ford dealership. I know Bluebonnet is very mod friendly.
