Mods to '98 Cobra

I just bought a '98 Cobra and Im wanting to throw about a grand in it pretty quickly. I'm thinking gears, CAI, exhaust, shifter and tune. Im looking for a place to get it done in the DFW area. What are you guys opinions on all these and what should I be looking for? I kinda to do my homework before I get dirty.

4.10s at least 4.30s if it is an around town car. This is the perfect first mod for a 98 cobra.

I am not a huge fan of most CAIs, as most of their gains are in the adjustment that they make to the tune itself. Toss a tune and a K&N on there and remove your silencer (the rubber piece that protrudes into teh fender well.

Shifter is a must. MGW, steeda triax are what I would stick with.

Exhaust is all personal pref and you will hear every side of the story on here. I stopped liking blowmasters a long time ago. I hate slp loudmouth
I love:
Bassani BX deep, pretty loud and agressive
Magnaflow: smooth and deep, quiet at idle and inside the car
Spintechs: what can I say? they're spintechs and they are sick, agressive and moderately loud

I would possibly do steeda pulleys instead of a tune just yet, maybe a timing adjuster as well if you want to spend teh cash on 93 octane

My ideal beginner street cruiser would be a 98 cobra with 4.30s, drag radials, steeda tri ax, pullies, then hooker or Kooks LTs (they are worth it) borla bassani or magnaflow. IMRC deletes

like 95GTS said, 4.10's or bigger, exhaust magnaflow is nice and loud on WOT but won't have cops turning thier heads when you drive by. JLT is the only CAI that is worth it on the cobra. and tires, I honestly wouldn't worry about a tune quite yet

Being that he said he has a $1k budget, your above listed parts blow that out of the water, not to mention install labor if he farms it out. And if you have never seen Kooks LT's installed or even installed them on a mod motor, then I'd watch what you suggest there...

Kooks on a Mod motor suck donkey balls, sure they look good, but try to remove the starter once installed..... much less access your motor mounts.

You should definitely be givving advice on how to make power out of a mod motor and what parts to buy and install since you definitely did a good job.

Where did I say My ideal 98 cobra setup would cost 1k? perhaps its a 3 year plan.

On a mod motor, yes, due to the high cost of all parts.

No, I stopped after $6k worth of mods. I am in the process of something different, don't you worry. All it takes is time and money.
