Money Pit=The Purple Bucket

Well, since a rod let go...the Purple Bucket's rebuild is now underway. I will be changing to Manley forged rods, Diamond 16.5:1 compression forged pistons...as well as increasing cubic inches. Plus, there will be few other goodies that include splayed 4 bolt main caps and other stuff.

The goal is 750+ HP N/A and low 9's at the track. Will keep ya posted with the build as we go along.

What is the cu.in.displacement of your new motor? What fuel do you run w/16.5:1 compression? What are the specs on your cam? What is your mnimum valve clearance you run w/ such a high compression motor?Do you run an MSD box that retards or advances the timing as you make your way down the track?Sounds like you're building one hell of a bullet!Good luck.

It will be around 412+ (not totally sure yet). For fuel I run C16. The cam is a custom grind from Cam Motion. We are changing pistons, so the machinist won't know the minimum valve clearance until I order the exact pistons I want. I run a MSD 6AL.

I've always been interested how small and large displacement high hp engine applications work, the extreme limits @ which they operate and how all the prep work(machining, chamfering, balance and blueprinting)helps them to withstand these extreme operating conditions run after run.I try to explain to my wife, when I watch the NHRA on tv how the engines operate, especially the pro stocks.how they make up to 3 hp per cu.in. and propel the cars to 6 second time slips. The way she really understands is when I tell her when she drives her truck to work, from the time she leaves the drive way until she reaches work, keep your foot on the floor, dont lift until you get there.she understands that. Thanks for your reply.

Hmmm, interesting. But, I have so many nice, high dollar 408W parts that I would lose so much $$ on if I sold them.

Well this one is fresh and only has about 3 or 4 passes on it . Its complete with a fully ported Victor intake , ported TFS heads , big solid roller cam and everything to install it into a Fox .

My brother in law just built it and installed it in his 98 Gt but is looking at some land and is considering selling it . He said he would take $8500 turn key with a really nice nitrous system , electric water pump , headers , bellhousing for a power glide and a King Demon carb .

Sounds like a nice set up. My block, heads and crank are already at the machine shop. I'll be back at the track in around 8 weeks.

UPDATE

After much thinking and also friends pushing me to go faster....I have decided to do nitrous pistons and rings. I will run a plate and fogger system and shoot for high 8's in the 1/4. Will keep ya posted.

Awesome! Reading about the Silver Bucket always made me want to go faster in my old 01 GT, and now reading about your Fox makes me want to go even faster in my Fox!

Probably a good choice . Its a lot cheaper and easier to run high 8's on the hose than to run low 9's NA .
