More amp and woofer questions....

OK, I used a link that someone posted in the other thread and the results showed that Two ways of connecting will result in either a 2ohm load or an 8ohm load. Results

I found out my amp is 2Ohm stable. And is bridgeable.
What will be the difference if I connect them either one way or the other? Right now I have them straight, one sub= 1+,1- on the amp. A friend said I could wire them, 2subs= 1+,1- but bridged. What kind of Ohmage will this result in? Out of all of these what will be the best way to wire them?

I hope you guys understand what I am trying to say and show.

There are some variables but if your subs can handle the power then bridge the amp. If you are running one 4 ohm sub per channel (output) than your running you amp @ 4 ohm stereo. The link you posted showed bridged wiring options not stereo. So when/if you bridge it the amp will run @ 2 ohms which will result in more rms power output (louder) but at the cost of a hotter running amp that may shut off (protect) in summer heat (depending on amp location). Don't run them in series (8 ohms = less power). :jeff:

i believe i understand what your saying. the difference in the way you wire it will effect the power that goes to the subs. if you look at amp ratings, they will say something like 2x50 at 8 ohm or 2x100 at 4 ohm. so basically when you cut the ohms in half, you double the power output. if you amp is 2 ohm stable, for sure, do that. to wire the subs, take the out and flip them over. where you hook up the speaker wire, there should be 2 tabs on the (+) and 2 tabs on the (-). you want to take the + from one sub and connect it to the + on the other sub. then - of one to - on the other. then on the other - tab, run that to the amp. on the same sub, run the + tab to the amp. so basically its 1 sub + and - go to + and - on sub 2. then on sub 2 take the + and - and run that to the amp.
now, concerning your amp. since you have a 4 channel, the speaker terminals gould go front left + -, front right + -, rear left + -, rear right + -. you want to bridge the amp using 2 channels. id say use the front. look at the amp where the speaker wires go for the front channel. it should go + - + -. to bridge (or run mono) it should say which ones to put your speaker wires to. usually its the outside terminals. like front left is your + and front right is your -. the middle two terminals should stay unconnected.
you shoud now have doubled your power. dont forget to adjust the crossover to low pass or LPF. and you will probably turn the gain down as well.
if you have any other questions, post up. i hope this helps you.

Ok, I understand. I will prolly do this tommorrow since it is late now. So by doing this I will be running at 2 Ohms. Whereas now I was at 4. I have them on A output right now on low pass. This leaves B output empty. If I bridge A output like you said and hook up a pair of 6X9 on B output strait up for high pass, will this screw everything up? Or should I just hook up the woofers to the amp and leave B empty?

BTW thanx alot, this has been really helpful.

you can hook the 6x9s to the amp. the gain for channel b should probably be about 1/2 to 3/4 of where the gain for the sub are. (each channel should have its own gain and x-over) as far as th x-over goes, there should be 3 settings. low pass, full range, and high pass. you might want the 6x9s on full range to get some mid-bass. when its all hooked up, switch the x-over and see what sounds better to your ear.

Thanx for all you help guys. It made a considerable difference on sound and feel. However after doing some resaerch on the amp itself it turns out this thing is pretty weak in wattage. I plan on getting something bigger later when i get some $$$, no to mention i need a better box. For now I am happy with the way everything sounds.

good, glad we could help. if you want a good box at a cheap price, go to sunset imports on walzem. they have dozens of styles in stock from $20 on up. great place and great people selling quality stuff at more than fair prices.
