Mother's Back to Black

I know I said something a while back about Mother's Back to Black - this stuff rocks. Here's an example of how well it works.

nice. what's in it? I'd be interested on how long it lasts between applications.

I like using Vinylex for the black plastic parts and it works pretty good (silicone-based). I am curious about other products as well.

I wouldn't, there are better, easier to apply products for tires.

TrueBlue, I just went and looked at the bottle and I didn't see any ingredients listed. I usually reapply every few weeks, but when I redid it for the pictures I hadn't used any since before the car was wrecked in February.

yeah, BTB is pretty good stuff. only thing i like better is 2001. BTB seems to soak into the plastic, and look dry again in a few minutes. 2001 seems to stay shiney.

2001, formula 2001, F2K1, etc.... its the same as armor all, but in the neon green bottle. i believe its made by turtle wax and can be found next to armor all at any automotive stote, wal mart, etc...

just stay away from any water-based stuff (like Armor All). the sun dries that stuff out quick and, especially in the long run, it will destroy the plastic.

i take it they are leather? Use a good leather cleaner and conditioner (separate bottles - skip the all-in-one cleaner/conditioners). I use Lexol (same company that makes Vinylex). orange bottles. i get mine at Pep Boys. buy a bundle of towels to apply it.

Yeah i tried it after you recommended it. My slacker of a room mate helped me shine my car a while back and my black trim was covered in white streaks "What you cant wax the trim??" lol NO !

So i tried 409... armorall cleaner crap, dawn soap (that usuually removes greas and wax build up on the car) and any other non abrasive cleaner i could get my hands on and it didnt work.

Saw the thread a while back about this and tried it. It took 2 applications because my staining was pretty bad (and dried on well by now) but its all black again! WORKS MIRACLES!

I've heard peanut butter is good for getting white waxy buildup off of plastic trim pieces....sounds strange, but I've seen people swear by it. Also, for those looking for good leather cleaners, go to a horse/feed and or pet store and find products designed to condition leather riding saddles. They are normally top notch quality and do a much better job deep conditioning then normal car related products do. :-)

I haven't heard that one, but I can testify that Crisco removes tar from paint!

ive been kind of lazy with cleaning the black plastic on the car, I use ice liquid wax and it can be applied to plastic, it actually shines it up pretty good. I'm gonna try btb. For a good claybar try the ice liquid claybar, that stuff is the shiznit. as far as the leather, i havent had any problems with the Mcguirs leather cleaner/conditioner, I get compliments on my leather a lot with that stuff.
