Yeah, I found their carpet but that's 120 for the passenger area and another 80 for the hatch area, then the door panels are 315ish for a set w/o arm pads. I haven't found those "econo" door panels for 109...
and you rhino lined the exterior of the car too? How did it look in person? Did you put in the gritty stuff or just use the liner and a roll on brush?

Well I still haven't ordered the carpet for it but I've been trying to clean what parts I can without spending any money just yet... so we pulled off the wheels and tried our best to clean 25 years of neglect and oxidation out of them!!! The results were less than stellar, but still a mild improvement. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the wheels back to factory shine please share! So far only thing I've tried is Medium duty rubbing compound and a buffer. I did try some bug and tar remover in the small tight spots but it didn't really do too much good.

well it did'nt load all the pics I suggested... but the last few are the Greg Welds I need to get tires on so I can mount those, and I need longer studs too!
In the fifth pic you can see where the "turbine slots" or whatever you want to call them are pretty nasty! I can't fit my hand in there with a rag to clean with and nothing I have is strong enough to take that shite off. And in other pics you can see where the metal is pitted from oxidation and variuos nics here and there![]()

funny you bring this up. i just finished watching "wheeler dealer" on my dvr. basically, its like a cheesy british "flip this house" but for older, popular cars. they were working on a 87-ish vette. the wheels were just like yours. they ended up using a buffer with "cutting compound" and then "metal polish." they turned out pretty nice. for the slots in the wheels, id try eagle one nevr-dull. you can find it at any auto store and maybe even wal mart. that works real good on old rims that have baked on brake dust/crap.

Coolio with the Eagle One stuff. I had thought of the break dust remover and will give it a shot. If all else fails we have some really nasty degreaser stuff at work that I can take a squeeze bottle of and give that a shot!
I am also gonna look for a stronger rubbing compound, something that says Cutting Compound on it sounds like it should do wonders!

Started pulling body parts to sand them down and paint in my garage. I hope to get an air compressor and HVLP gun in 2 weeks with work bonus and turn the garage into a paint booth. Fenders were relatively easy to get off after I figured out the front bumper!
I've already sanded and painted and resanded the hood and then sprayed the underside with rattlecan flat black. It looked alright but had some rough spots in the paint so I sanded it down and it's nice and smooth now ready for real paint.
More pics after I get the gun and air tank and put on a first few coats.

I wouldnt have removed the fenders from the car. It wasnt really necessary just extra work for you is all. I just pulled the bumper cover and removed the doors. Alot less alingment work that way since I removed the pins and not the hinges so i still had all my gaps good afterwards.
As far as the paint part Id recommend sanding it down and shooting primer on it yourself then after it is in primer take it to a pro. I thought I had mine all good after I shot it in primer and the shop still resanded it all fixed some spots I never even saw and reprimed it prior to paint. Painting is an art and if you want it to turn out decent get some one who has done it before to shoot the color.Just my .02
Get to work son I just about finished up in 8-9 months of solid working on it. Down to just the "bugs" pretty much now.lol

Ill check witht he wife(she tracks the cashola) and see exactly what we paid for carpet throuh LRS. ACC doesnt sell direct we tried had to go thru a distributor. However we did order the fitted front and a 12yd roll for the seat delete in the rear.

It was $156 for the carpet from Late Model Resto, the molded part to the rear seat. And another $124 for the 12' piece we used to do up the hatch and rear-seat-delete area.

Well the fender on the drivers side wasn't quite perfect with the cowl metal so I needed to straighten that any how. And it will be easier for me to sand and strip paint with the fenders and bumper and hood on work horses instead of on the car.
I have plans for the engine and performance, but since this paint work, for now, isn't costing me any thing more than strips of sand paper I'll do that to keep busy. Same thing for carpet and headliner and all that other stuff I'm getting myself into.
The engine is a pretty fresh rebuild from a shop North of Houston and runs great. I'll probably be ordering exhaust and FMIC from Stinger when the bank acct's grow!
Yeah sanding is therapeutic and inexpensive....
Plus it gets ya away from the people in the house and provides a reason for beer drinking like ya need a reason....

I got a little bit of paint removal done the past couple days, it's slow going for right now... While waiting for some aircraft remover to start working I tried polishing up the rims a little. Turned out better but not great...

I may be turning away from the paint for a week or so to try and eliminate some electrical hazards while I've got the car apart anyhow. There are at least a dozen wires that someone has cut off and electrical taped the ends of them, so I want to trace them all the way back to their source and remove the wire completely, plus I found a wire from the starter solenoid that runs back to the ignition (I think) that the rubber liner has rotted off of completely and exposed about 10"s of copper. I guess the only reason it hasn't shorted yet is because the exposed area was in the middle of a bundle of other wires and tape...

in this pic what is that round can mounted on the front area of the inner fender? Is that the carbon canister? Can I take it out? I unplugged it from the vaccum line and the car still ran fine without it...
Vac pod for the doors in the HVAC system I left it in my car. It is the only one I didnt remove.

What all on the vacuum tree can be removed to clean some of those damn hoses out? I'm currently back and forth on taking out the A/C system completely to clean up the engine bay and lighten up the front some.
