OK, a few questions...The $800, was that with all the new parts, or was that just machine work?

When you say Cobra oil pump, what year are you talking about? Is it similar to the one they put in Mach 1's? I've seen a few of those come apart in nitrous motors.

And also, you may know this, but when doing ARP head bolts, torque, loosen and retorque three times to seat the new bolts.

Other than that, I'm envious...that pig run-in made me do the appearance stuff before the performance...

The 800 was for machine work alone, square decking, notching for Cobra crank, boring with torque plates, honing of the walls, dip and clean, all new freeze plugs, main and rod bearings (tri-metal) paint, line hone the mains, new oil galley plugs, completely flushed all oil galleys, balanced rotating assembly, and file fitted my rings.

The Cobra oil pump is brand new, OEM from a 03 DOHC S/C.
My ARP, it's done..... but I don't have the heads ready yet, so I still have time.

Don't know much about the '03 oil pump...I just hope it's beefier than the Mach/non-S/C Cobra pumps. I'd hate to see that motor taken out by a weak pump.

Have you ever seen or heard of a failed 03 S/C pump yet??

I was gonna go with the MMR billet pump, but was not willing to dish out
250 for one.... and I had a connection at a local dealer here, so I got it at just above cost.

By the way Kat.... got money in hand, we need to meet up for the lights like tonight, cuz I won't see you for at least 2 weeks. You got my cell, call me, we are gonna be out and about tonight.

Just got a sweet deal on a brand new set of Hooker Long Tubes for cheap..

... should see them in a week, now I just need to sell my shorty headers, get the heads done, and we are in business. Getting the timing components this week too.

Your such a smart big brother. It takes a lot of talent to do something like what your doing. Only a small amount of people can do that. Good job. Can't wait to see your car when its done.

After all of the mods and machine work and you are only expecting around 300 horse!? As long as you feed this thing with plenty of air and fuel with a healthy a$$ cam and high flow heads... This beatch ought to push a good bit more than 300.

Also, since your motor is currently out of the car and mostly disassembled, you may want to polish out the oil galleys. This helps when a high performance motor has very high demands and it allows the oil to circulate better through the motor.

A lot of small things like that can add up to a couple of horse and actually prolong the life of the motor.

Are your rods and pistons free floating?

The block was massaged at the machine shop, the oil gallies were cleaned and de-burred but the polishing did not happen. When I said 300, I was being conservative, with a good tune and the tight combo's I may be closer to 350, but Len from Murillo said they did one and it had a stock bottom end and got 359 hp out of it.... so we will see.

And yes, my wrist pins are floating, 2 holes in the top of the rod journals for the wrist pin for extra lubrication, full floating.

Other then that, I should be getting my long tubes this week, no real progress on the block yet, got all my timing parts in as well........

Saw new trick flow intake too, 800 bucks from Summit..... note sure if I want to drop 8 bills for an intake with no proven numbers yet either, may as well spend half that and get the typhoon intake......

May be getting the new BBK intake once it is available..

Update, got all my timing parts in, fresh timing cover, debating on auto pait or powder coating it, will possibly do the same for the valve covers.

Taking the heads this week for a full stage 2 porting with valve job and possibly stainless steel valves....

Once the heads are done and installed, it will be 80% done.

Yeah, Kotzur FTMFW on the heads....

No promises on yours though... hehe

I still need a few more items to buy though, if all goes well, I just may buy the Professional Products combo set up... intake, plenum, and t-body from a source with a package deal... still debating.

I have flirted with the idea of selling my rotating assembly in favor of a stroker and super charger....

Got a connection in Michigan.......

May buy a tuner at cost too, but not sure the tuner will benefit a 96 PCM versus a chip.

I got the Hookers for 4 reasons...

1) they allow tranny removal w/o having to remove one like BBK or Mac
2) long tubes
3) price
4) power and sound

Since I can do exhaust, I would use my existing x pipe and join them up. The Bassani has a slip fit design, so it becomes universal, so to speak.

And yeah, l/t's are a PITA to do....
