nope, not at all, but obviously there is a serious problem goin on here, the motor does spin clockwise correct, which makes the distributor spin counterc clockwise, how could that gear possibly break off like that?

its a rebuilt motor from o'reillys, i think its a couple of years old, but rarely driven, i was told when i bought the car that it had 2500 or so miles on the motor, so about 3500-4000 miles
on it now

Sounds like you have the wrong distributor gear on the cam or the wrong distributor gear. Both gears are supposed to be a certian metal (I forget now) also.

I bet the distributor gears were brass:gil:

My friend thought he had a billit gear on his 351 Distributor but found out the hard way. Car died at the end of the track and upon inspection the cam chewed the Brass gears off the distributor.

alamo performance says that my oil pump locked causing the distributor to lock but the cam still tried to spin it, which broke the pin

I would go ahead and check the oil pump to see if it turns. You can use a 5/16 socket with an adapter and see if it spins.

nope, it didnt turn. looks like i have to pull the motor, or at least lift up a little to get the oil pan off.

i like to look at my guages while i drive and the oil pressure never dropped the car just shut off so im hoping nothings damaged.

At the very least after installing the new pump fill it with straight 20w and a filter run it for like 5 mins (idle) and drain and change the oil. Just a suggestion.:jeff:

the stock oil pump guage is electric and reads of a resistor, if you have 7+ psi, it will give you a full pressure reading
