my unfortunate night

so, i go to the A&M game, and afterwards go out to hang out with the g/f for an hour or so. well, before i leave, she tells me to be careful for cops. (JINX) so im heading back towards my apt at night, about 12:30. i know my speedo doesnt work right, since i got gears, and still dont have it settled on which speedo gear i need. so generally, i just pace people. well, thinkin about what ashley told me, im just cruisin on the highway, and see some dude in a camry coming up real fast on me, and it crossed into my head once that i should drop a gear and punch it, then i thought of the cops, and just chilled. let him pass me, and then started pacing him from a distance. well, the highway turns off and we enter a different road. the speed limit changes under a bridge, which i never saw the sign. still pacing the camry. then he starts slowing down to turn, and i keep going straight. figures, 1 block down the road from where the camry turned, is the police department (didnt know this.. im new here). so i go by the PD going 56, in a supposed 45. i get pulled over about 3 lights down, and im thinkin what the crap did i do? and he tells me i was going 56 in a 45 then he got me for failure to show insurance. im on probation for a recent ticket as well... so for the short version of the story--

i got pulled over, got a ticket, and i need to know if anyone has any suggestions on a lawyer that can take care of the ticket here, or if there is anyway my old lawyer in SA can take care of it?

sorry for the rambling post. this just really pisses me off because i was actually TRYING not to get a ticket, and just never saw the speed limit signs.

Actually they do it state wide, So if they WANTED to they could send off for your driving record to austin, just to see, and then follow it if they want to.

Chances are, since you're new here, they'll just start a new file with your name on it, and make you pay.

But i could be wrong....

radar detectors don't work well around here, they don't keep their radar on as much plus with the motorcycle cops, it's kinda pointless.

sorry ot hear it john. btw, i'm about to come over.

Did they give you a "fix-it ticket" or a citation ticket? I heard that they sometimes make you peel it off right there.......

is it a pretty bad ticket?

Did rates for tickets go up? I would think it would be a little less than that. Maybe 66$? Or is it just Texas?

In Corpus when you elect to take the defensive driving school they force you to send off to Austin for your DPS driving record so they know whether you have taken the class within a year but I do know that some counties don't do that. When you request the driving record you have to pay 10$ to get it, I think that this is a scam to get more revenue for the state since I know they (Corpus Courts) have computers that can give them my driving record. I just took the class a few weeks ago so I remember rather well how much of a pain in the Asss it can be to keep your insurance company from raping you for one ticket. I have 5% tint and hope (knock on wood) that I don't get pulled over and given a 114 dollar bill, I've been lucky so far with being pulled over once in New Braunfels and twice in Corpus since I've had the tint which has been since February. Well good luck with the ticket. Ken

You might try explaining that your speedo doesn't work properly and you had no idea and that you have know idea why it doesn't work properly, just act dumbfounded that your speedo wasn't accurate. Maybe they can knock it down to an equipment citation and allow you time to correct it then dismiss the ticket. Not sure how it works in Texas but in Florida they will do this at times as long as you aren't a jerk through the process.

Just ask for adjudicated probation and you will have to pay a court cost and what other restrictions the judge imposes. I have lucky and they just gave a 60day probation period and if I get a ticket within the 60 days the ticket will have to be payed and you can't take defensive driving. And no ticket the ticket is taken off the system. But I don't know about sending info for seeing if you have taken Defensive driving in Corpus Christi for within a year. Usually if you ask the judsge if you can take defensive driving, he can still grant it even if you have taken defensive driving within the year. Just ask for Adjudicated probation. AN attorney doesn't do crap.

I had the worst day ever about a week ago, I got 2 tickets in 12 hours

I was driving through Hollywood Park late at night, I was doing the speed limit, and being very careful because of the cops there. Then I get pulled over for "running a stop sign!" Which as far as I can remember I made a complete stop there, and he says I didn't. Then he was like... I like your car.... how fast have you gotten it up to? I was like I wouldn't know... I never speed. He was like... I have the same car and I get that thing flying here and there. So I was like "You stop me for not making a complete stop at a stop sign and you are topping out your car on public roads putting lifes at danger?" Then he just wrote the ticket, and didnt say another word

So I ended up driving that day to Callaghan and 410 and paid an attorney to fight the ticket. About 5 minutes after I left there got pulled over doing 80 in a 65 :P , So now I am doing defensive driving for that crap. Ended up spending 450.00 in traffic fines in one day :2thumbdwn
