anyone that pays me to work on their car is welcome to watch and ask a limited number of questions, but thats as close to a mentor as I can get.

Best thing to do is to Read up on Tech. books like a repair manual for your car. This way you know whats going on and you get hands on experiance, and if you have questions you can always bother people on the net

The VERY best way to do it is to jump in with both feet. Books can teach you but you really don't know until you get hands on. Just remember that everything you do can be fixed by someone else if need be. Don't be scared, the water is warm.

I learned a lot by just hands on expierence. I started tinkering with cars when I was about 12 or so. I was working as a mechanic when I was 18 then quit it for a while and started it all over again and made a career out of it. Now I can fix just about anything on any car or truck. Your welcome to come help me do some work on my car and I can give you some pointers along the way. :jeff:

+1 For Hoss as a mentor...He is a DAMN good mechanic, and he explains everything he does to your car, while he's doing it...He has educated me on a lot of little things when it comes to 5.0 Mustangs, but He can work on anything!!

Hands on experience is the key to becoming good at it.If it's man made and I have the diagnostic equipment to do the job,I can fix it.In fact it has been a rewarding career for myself. Why not become a technician full time?
