Need Advice from yall PRO's

Need Advice from yall PRO's
ok, here's my problem, i have a 1990 Lx coupe w/ some bolt ons.(If you can really help i'll PM the mods i have to you)
Now my question is, i want to go faster but not sure what is the better buy.
Should i put more into the motor or should i put more into the suspension? like uppers and lowers, drag shocks and struts, and Drag Springs ?
Or should i get like some new AFR 165 heads?
what would yall do?
As of now, my best time to date w/ only 2 trips w/ a total of like 6 passes is a 13.7 @ 100 mph.
Also if you have any other idea about what i could do to get better times, that would help too!

Thanks,
Elliot

I would get the suspension taken care of first. That way once you do get to add some more power, it will handle it and you will be able to launch better. Other wise you will be catching up with the motor instead of being prepared for it.:2thumbup:

I'm more of a from a stop racer my self, so maybe a little suspension work would be good. i don't know, well see.

apparently you have mods already, so some attention to the
suspension would be a good place to start. That will help your
e.t.'s now. Then decide what you want out of your motor and
collect parts and build all at once, just a thought :2thumbup:

i was joking - we all know that elliot can't afford to spend $2500-3000 on a turbo charger. i don't think that many of us could afford that

For Sale: TWIN TURBO KIT

Twin Turbo Kit for sale:
- Turbo Headers
- Down Pipes that connect to factory or aftermarket H or X Pipe
- Garrett T3 turbos
- Integrated wastegates
- Braided steel oil supply lines
- Rubber/nylon petroleum type oil return lines
- brass fittings to connect oil supply lines and oil sending unit to the block

Basically this is everything up to the point where the piping that would go from the turbos to the intercooler and Throttle body or carb starts (everything but the "cold side").

This kit is designed to work with all the accessories (pwr. steering, A/C, etc...) in place and there is no need to cut any of the car up anywhere.

The kit works on both EFI and carbed engines - I designed it on a motor with the big TFS Street heat Intake and it clears that!

The kit is designed for Fox Body ('79 - '93) 5.0 motors but should work on a 94-95 5.0 also but you would probably have to swap to a fox body type intake to do the "cold side" piping.

$1400.00

there are several guys with turbo kits, home built, with under a grand invested. I/C, turbo(s), piping, everything...

So dont say it cant be done.

But, I agree, the majority are over 2500 by a long shot.

i saw a couple of these home - built turbo kits, and i think that most of them probably dont do much. i remember seeing a thread where someone posted a picture of a turbocharger made out of a leaf blower. im sure its possible to make one that works, but it would be a bitch to make.

Well, that kit that is being sold was on an 86 coupe, stock motor, and still ran 10.40's, so I believe he is doing something right.......

i dont think you come off as harsh at all. you seem to know a lot about this topic, while i know almost nothing about turbo, or super chargers. im just talking about what ive seen. the kit i mentioned was on the jc whitney website, and it said "complete kit", but you are probably right about checking up onstuff like that, so you dont get screwed over it.

this is funny...here is what I am getting from the info you have read/wrote.

I dont know shit.
I've never messed with turbos.
and JY turbo kits are 'pieced together', non 'established', and are made for 'beater' cars...

There are several guys who are well over 800 hp with 'JY' kits...Just because you can't/wont fab the kit up yourself doesn't mean somebody else can't/wont do it...

The only difference between a PTK kit and a JY kit is the turbo. You can go to a JY and get a powerstroke turbo, and make a kit just like their kit, for 1/4 the price, and make the same power. What is wrong with that?

You are going to dog a JY kit and then post a link to feets car, and hype it up...so do you like them or dislike them?

Don't turn someone away from them just because you'd rather spend the $5k on an 'established' kit...
