Need advice on a reputable shop/individual to install gears.
The little shop I usually go to for general mechanical stuff wasn't very confident they could install gears without having them whine. Rather then risking it with them, I would like to take it somewhere else. Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive shop or individual that does work on the side to do the work? Last quote I got was $300 and I have gears+install kit+clutch pack already. That was purely labor. Thanks all.

I also had them done, a few months ago, and can PM you the cell phone number of the guy who did them. He is a Ford Tech and does his work at the dealership, off the clock. He was pretty reasonable (less than half of your quote). He's just south of Fort Worth and does quite a bit of rear end work. All I provided was the ring and pinion gear and shims, he had everything else.
