How much will a rear main seal replacement cost me?

I'm buying an 88 2.3, 4 cyl. vert. for my nephew and the only thing that bothers me is the rear main is dripping a little.

no there's an oilpan gasket and seal that has to be replaced when rebuilding an engine but can you do it with out pulling the engine.

Rear main seal shouldn't cost any more than 15 bucks. You will have to pull the trans to access the seal.Plan on 200-400 bucks in labor charges.

werd. rear main seal is probably one of the most labor expensive jobs there is... well, at least if you consider the seal itself is only 15 bucks.
