Need some advice...concerns Gunn Dodge again...
Hey guys...do you think I should say something about how my 2k set of wheels now look after ALL of weights were removed for a balance? It looks awful and it is on all 4 wheels. Is it something Dodge should be responsible to take care of? I just can't believe they look like this now and I think some of you that I am a big fan of clean wheels....this really bothers me.
I took a pic but didn't get a chance to download it yet but I don't know if that is even relevant. But take my word...you can see a TON of glued paper or something all over the inside of the wheels. It is blatantly obvious and distracting. |

After all they have done to you, of course.....if they would have done it right the first time, you wouldn't be having this problem!!!
Just condsider if you had taken it and gotten the rims somewhere else and they had done the same thing, you would have asked them to take care of the problem......the deallership is no different though the like to make you think they are!!! |

I would say it is the responsibility of the person/place that did the work to make sure the wheels looked as good as they did when they came in. So, yes, I would complain about it. Removing the weights includes the weights themselves and the glue holding them. Sounds like sloppy and lazy work to me.

Well... "legally" the dealer could probably say they are not responsible because they are aftermarket wheels. However, as a service to a "customer" it would be the right thing to do if they would take responsibility and clean the goo and gunk left on the wheels from the old weights.

Hint: wear your uniform when you talk to them. The last thing a business needs in this town is to be thought badly by the military community.

THEN to add insult to injury, when I had Ancira order, paint, and install a new deflector, someone in their body shop "curbed" the left rear aftermarket (Boyd) wheel and aftermarket left fender flare/running board. Ancira took responsibilty and fixed the damage. THEN more deflector woos. Two days later I noticed that one end (about a 12") was missing from the deflector. Like someone cut it off. Took it back to Ancira and they determined it as defective and replaced it at no charge. One final THEN.....Than about a month later my wife didn't quite get the garage door raised ALL the way. You can guess what happened. That damn deflector is a pain in the a$$. Last edited by VIC; 02-15-2005 at 12:28 PM. |

IMO
Buy some goof off and clean them up yourself. Why take the risk of some pissed off porter guy screwing up something else on purpose because he thinks you're too picky of a customer. Not saying that attitude is right...just saying it exists.

Mick...
I would say something. Immediately. Aftermarket wheels like yours should have the weigths properly installed on the inside of the wheel. Not on the outside lip. This provides not only better esthetics but better balancing. They should have originally installed them on the inside of the wheel lip not on the outer or inner edge! Dan ON edit...Go look at most vehicles with 20's or 22's. You will not see the wheel weights on most of them. |

And...on a side note...The car is still pulls (just opposite way now), steering wheel seems to have a ton of play in it now, and the steering wheel vibrates around 70...still. |

If you're having that many problems with the wheels (steering play, vibrating, pulling, balancing) they obviously can't resolve the problem. I'd have them totally replace the wheels with new ones or give you a refund of your purchase price and the original wheels back. Then go to a good wheel shop and get them from there.
