need some info.

what in God's name does a CamShaft Position sensor do, me check engine light came on, checked the computer says i needa replace it, whats it do though its running fine. someone anyone know it does?

lol. the cam sensor reads where the cam is, which lobes are where, and which valves are open. car uses it for start up along with the crank sensor to determin which spark plug to fire to get it going.
